Principal's Message
Dear KGV Families,
After Monday’s weather-related disruption, it is great to see the students settle into their routines and demonstrate such high levels of engagement as we start to build momentum.
Each student building their own personalised success story is key to what we do at KGV, with this happening in a learning environment where they can be ‘Known, Heard, Safe and Successful.’
As we start this academic year, it has been a privilege to have the opportunity to reflect on some of these success stories. The ESF Chairman’s Awards was one such example, with the extraordinary and diverse range of achievements from our graduating class on display. It was wonderful to hear their stories of success as they move onto a whole range of world leading university experiences, pursuing degrees ranging from Medicine, Engineering and Computer Science through to Classics, Fashion and Acting. We can be proud of the excellence demonstrated across such a range of passions, and this reflects our aspiration of each student being their own remarkable.
There has also been a buzz of excitement and anticipation amongst our Year 12 students as they received their (I)GCSE results this week. We are currently in the process of analysing these results, and early indications suggest there will be many stories of outstanding achievements and success. We will share further details soon.
We also look forward to seeing as many parents as possible at the Open Day on Monday as this will provide the opportunity to connect with your child’s teachers and see their learning environments.
Have an enjoyable weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark Poulsum
Year 11 Message
Despite the disruption on Monday, it has felt like our first full week of school. Students have been back in classes on time, well prepared and well presented.
If you are joining us for Open Day on Monday (see item in this newsletter) you might consider dropping in to the Y10/11 office to say hi to James Fisher our Senior Head of Year, Tristan Kent our Curriculum Coordinator or myself. You may also like to talk about future university or career plans and option selections with our Higher Education team in the Year 12/13 office upstairs.
Next week we will have school photos for Year 11 on Tuesday 26th August Periods 1-4.
Year 10 Message
Despite the disruption on Monday, it has felt like our first full week of school. Students have been back in classes on time, well prepared and well presented.
All Year 10 students had their first WIN lesson today. We used this lesson to talk to them about CAS. We described how important it is to balance their health and wellbeing with their academic studies and how developing interests, skills and a history of service will set them up for success in senior school and beyond. Students then spent time setting themselves a goal for this term for Creativity, Activity and Service. Please take a minute to talk to your child about their gioals to help them plan how they will achieve them.

Year 12 & 13 Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Year 12 & 13 team would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to our Year 12 students on their outstanding iGCSE results!
Our Heads of Departments are currently processing the data and will be ready to offer students the opportunity to submit subject change requests by the end of next week. To begin this process, students should first have a conversation with Mr. Wightman, our IB Coordinator, or Mr. Chappell, our BTEC/IBCP Coordinator. After this discussion, they will need to complete the necessary documentation. Detailed information about the process will be posted in the student bulletin.
While we strive to accommodate late changes, please understand that we cannot guarantee that all requests can be fulfilled. Class sizes may be full, or timetable conflicts may prevent certain changes. If a change is possible, it may require adjustments to other classes, so we encourage students to carefully consider their options.
Some of our Year 13 students may be granted the privilege of late entry or early leave, depending on their timetable. Mr. Pritchard will inform students early next week if they meet the criteria for this allocation."
If you are joining us for Open Day on Monday (see the item in this newsletter), we invite you to stop by the Year 12/13 office to meet Michael Pritchard, our Senior Head of Year, and Chris Wightman, our Curriculum Coordinator. You can also discuss future university or career plans with our Higher Education team, who will be available in the student common room.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

CAS Activities - Term 1
Dear Parents & Students,
It’s great to see the amount of interest in the CAS program. In just the first few days, there have been over 2500 active sign-ups.
CAS Activities will remain open for sign-up until Sunday 31st August. New activities are still being added every day, so please continue to check the KGV CAS Activities website (KGV CAS Website), but for the full details, please look at the activities page on LIONEL.
Registration is NOT on a first-come-first-served basis. All students registered will be placed on the waiting list until the end of the registration period. If the number of enrolments exceeds the maximum number of participants, names will be drawn randomly by Lionel to allocate only those who have been pre-approved by parents to join the activity. Allocation will commence on Monday 1st September.
Useful links to help with the process:
Term 1 Activities are due to start the week of 8th September.
For more information about signing up, withdrawal, allocation and parental approval, click here.
If you have any particular questions about CAS, please drop in to the LRC2 during the KGV Open Day (Monday 25th) and I will be happy to help.
