Principal's Message
Dear KGV Families,
I hope this email finds you well. Throughout this year there have been many highlights that showcased the excellence of KGV students, including this week. The Y8 MacBeth exhibition was a great example, with student agency and personalisation at the heart of the work produced. The LEC drama production was an equally remarkable event, reflecting the creativity and joy that was evident in the performances.
It is the magical blend of tradition and ambition that makes KGV stand out. Our students always strive to be the best they can be, both as a learner and as a human being. The dedication, professionalism and talent of our staff ensure they are always striving to provide the best possible outcomes for each and every student. It is also the support, care and engagement from the parent community that makes such a difference. It is these ingredients that make KGV a truly remarkable school.
You will also be aware that we will be transitioning to the ESF Hub over the summer as we move into our new systems. A parent handbook has recently been shared with you through the ESF App and it is worth taking a look ahead of next academic year. There will be further communication during the summer about how to access the ESF Hub and to create your account in time for the start of the new academic year.
Please be reminded that Y7, Y12 and Y13 students return on Wednesday 12th August for transition day. All year groups return on Thursday 13th August.
Have a wonderful summer ahead, enjoy the time with family and friends and I look forward to seeing everyone when we return in August.
Best regards,
Mark Poulsum
I can hardly believe a full school year has gone - it has flown by as students have stretched their skills and knowledge, explored with curiosity and creatively crafted solutions to real world problems. In these last few weeks, engagements like the Year 9 Community Project Exhibition and Graduation, the Ocean Park visit and the creativity of the Year 8 MacBeth exhibition have brought our community together. Over the year, our students have demonstrated a remarkable commitment to their learning and personal development. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting these experiences.
Reflecting on the Year
As you head into the summer break, this is a wonderful time to have constructive conversations with your child about their journey this year. To help facilitate these reflections, you might find the following questions useful:
Reflecting on Success: What achievement are you most proud of this year and why?
Celebrating Growth: In which subject(s) have you seen the most growth, and what helped you achieve that progress?
Building Habits: What learning habits have you developed that have helped you succeed?
Looking Forward: What are your key areas for challenge, and what are your next steps in overcoming them?
These conversations are invaluable in helping students process their learning, acknowledge their accomplishments, and build agency for the year ahead.
School Uniform Update
We would like to thank all families for engaging in the survey and feedback process earlier this year. The school has reviewed this feedback and will be updating the uniform expectations to help us strike the right balance between high expectations for presentation and community belonging, and comfort to support the right mindset for learning. These updates are being communicated to students via student leaders and the student development team, and parents will receive full details in the start of year information.
Looking Ahead
We look forward to welcoming everyone back in August. For planning purposes, please remember that all year groups return to school on Thursday, 13th August 2026.
Thank you for your ongoing support, trust, and partnership. I wish you and your families a restful, refreshing, and enjoyable summer break.
Best regards,
Ms. Dionne Lashley-Greer
Year 10
Semester two reports have been issued. Access these from the Progress Checks section of the CCF in Lionel via the ESF App. This is a critical half-way indicator of progress. Please use the information and recommendations in the report to help your child set goals for next year. There is still time to establish routines and habits around regular attendance, note-taking and revision that can have a big impact on outcomes. Please encourage your child to rest over the break, while still keeping up a small but regular engagement with revision.
Year 11
If you are returning to KGV for Year 12, the first day of school will be Wednesday, August 12th. If you are not returning to KGV, it is very important that you download any reports you want to keep from Lionel and ask your child to set up email forwarding on their school account and download anything they want to keep from their Google account before 15th June.
Students will be emailed links and login details to retrieve their exam results from: Cambridge and Edexcel. AQA results (DT and Food Tech) will be emailed out.
Results will be available to students from:
If your child is leaving KGV, does not set up email forwarding and they sat Food Tech or DT, then a family member can visit the KGV exams office to collect the AQA results in August.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we wrap up the school year, I just wanted to say what a massive privilege it’s been to work with this year group. The senior school area is always buzzing with energy, and it has been incredibly rewarding to watch our Year 12s tackle their goals with so much focus and ambition. Of course, none of this happens in a vacuum, and a huge shout-out has to go to our amazing teachers whose day-to-day commitment makes such a difference.
Throughout this year, our focus has been driven by our 'School for One' vision, making sure that every single young adult in our care feels truly Known, Heard, Safe, and Successful as they navigate these demanding pre-university years.
Our Year 12s are about to step into the final, high-stakes stretch of their KGV journeys. Because of that, finding a genuine lifestyle balance over the summer holiday isn't just a nice idea; it’s an essential part of their academic strategy.
We strongly encourage our students to use the upcoming weeks to properly unplug, look after their physical health, and get some well-deserved cognitive decompression away from screens. Senior school is a marathon, not a sprint, and long-term stamina requires structured downtime. We know that a well-rested mind is a sharper, more resilient one; ensuring they take this time to reset means they will head back to campus in August feeling refreshed, refocused, and ready to own their final year.
On a practical note, you should have already received emails detailing everything needed to get set up for the new term. Please take time to look through those details before school starts so we can ensure a completely smooth transition right out of the gate.
Mark Your Calendar: Senior school classes officially resume on Wednesday, 12th August.
Thank you so much for your partnership, your trust, and your shared dedication this year as we guide these young adults through these pivotal milestones. I hope you and your family enjoy a wonderful, relaxing summer break.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back in August as our leading Year 13 Class of 2027!

In August, the new ESF Hub App and web portal will replace the current ESF App that parents use to access information about the school and their child.
ESF have recently shared this parent information document about the ESF Hub App and Web portal.
In early August, ESF will contact all parents with information to get you set up and to connect your child(ren). They will remind you to delete the old ESF App.
You don't need to download any information before deleting the old ESF App. The new ESF Hub App and Web portal will connect you to all the information you can access now, and more, in a modern and secure environment. We will try to use email sparingly next year and put all communications and information through the ESF Hub.
Once school starts, ESF will step back, and we will pick up the support for the new ESF Hub App and Web Portal. We plan to run parent webinars and provide drop-ins during the first few weeks for anyone requiring technical support.
In the meantime, if you have any technical questions, you can contact our helpdesk: helpdesk@kgv.edu.hk
