Principal's Message
Dear KGV Families,
As we reach the end of KGV’s historic 130th academic year and reflect on our achievements, it reminds me of what an honour and privilege it is to belong to this remarkable community.
Throughout this year there have been many highlights that showcased the excellence of KGV students, including this week. The Y8 MacBeth exhibition was a great example where the spirit of the MYP shone through, with student agency and personalisation at the heart of the work produced. There was also the opportunity for our Y7 students to share their creativity and imagination through the annual Film Awards.
The magical blend of tradition and ambition make KGV stand out. Our students always strive to be the best they can be, both as a learner and as a human being. The dedication, professionalism and talent of our staff ensure they are always striving to provide the best possible outcomes for each and every student. It is also the support, care and engagement from the parent community that makes such a difference. It is these ingredients that make KGV a truly remarkable school.
Have a wonderful summer ahead, enjoy the time with family and friends and I look forward to seeing everyone when we return in August.
Best regards,
Mark Poulsum

Year 8 & 9 Message
As we approach the end of the academic year, I want to take a moment to express what an honour it has been to join the KGV community. I am proud to be part of a school buzzing with learning experience driven by the ambition and dedication of our students and the commitment and expertise of our staff.
On a practical note, you should have received emails containing all the information you need to prepare for the upcoming academic year. Please take some time to review this information with your child before their return to school, as it will help ensure a smooth transition.
Encourage your child to prioritise rest, relaxation, play, and offline activities during the summer to support their academic performance, physical health, and overall development as they gear up for the challenges of the GCSE or the final year or the MYP. This balanced approach will help them return to school feeling refreshed and ready for their new academic journey.
As we bid farewell, our Year 9 students will transition to the care of Mr. Carrell, the Vice Principal, and Mr. Fisher, the Senior Head of Year, in the Year 10 & 11 office. Mr. Mannion will also move with the Year 9 students to become their Head of Year 10. This change in leadership marks an important milestone in their academic journey.
We hope you and your family have a safe and enjoyable summer break. For those leaving KGV, we wish you all the best in your new adventures. For those returning, we look forward to welcoming you back for the new academic year.Thank you to all our Year 8 and 9 students and families for your support this year.
Wishing you a restful break!
Final Year 7 Message
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
It has been a real privilege to work with you all over the past year, as we have seen your child, our student, grow into these amazingly mature and incredible KGV students!
Yesterday, I hope you all received access to your child's End of Semester 2 report. Please spend time talking to them about their academic achievements and let them explain to you their strengths as well as their goals for next year! Remember they are much more than their reports and have had achievements in many other areas this year.
The Year 7 team are handing you over to the Year 8 team, knowing they are in good hands with Mr Alex Lamour (Head of Year 8) and Mr Ashley Tranter (Senior Head of Year 8 -9).
Year 8 students return on Wednesday 13th August, when they will also have their official school photographs. All start of term information has been sent out to you in a separate email.
Wishing you and your families an excellent summer. I hope you are able to spend time as a family. Enjoy! That's a wrap!

Year 10 Message
We finished the year with some classes, a celebratory assembly and some fun competitions and personal connection during tutor time.
We wish all students a good break over the summer and encourage them to do small amounts of revision to keep their knowledge current.
At the start of next term, we will be working with an expert in Restorative Practices. Kristy Elliott is a renowned expert in the field of relationships and wellbeing (https://restorative.org.au/profile/kristy-elliott). Her approach to the importance of relationship building and how it positively impacts how successful we are in dealing with conflict is central to our beliefs at KGV. We are committed to building a community where all students are known, heard, safe and successful and Kristy’s work with restorative practices will provide us with further thinking and strategies on how we continue to build relationships.
We have over 200 students working with Kristy on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th August. We would also like to offer a parent session for a group of 30 parents to work with Kristy and learn about her work. If you are able to join a session on Friday 15th August, 1.00pm – 3.00pm please email Carole Beer (carole.beer@kgv.edu.hk) . Places are limited, so please sign-up asap.

He has had an immense impact on the team and we celebrated his efforts.

This year the winner was Sumukh Diwakar. Not only is Sumukh a very talented and hard working athlete with high success, but he also founded Give to Play, a charity that collects used sports equipment around Hong Kong and delivers it to underprivileged schools in India. Sumukh also runs coaching sessions with the schools he delivers the equipment to and Sumukh has set his sights on increasing his outreach to include schools in the Philippines. Sumukh was a deserve winner of the award and its prize, which was donated by the Casey family, and we are very proud of him and his commitment to providing opportunity to those less fortunate.
Congratulations to all winners, but also to all students who took part in sport for KGV this year. It was our biggest year yet with the amount of teams entered and it is great to see sport is continuing to grow at the school. We look forward to a bigger and better 2025/26 year.
