Principal's message
Dear Parents
Please see my message below regarding the Service for Mr Chris Hattam. This is an important occasion to farewell Chris and acknowledge his contribution to our community.
It has been great to have students back into school this week. Up until Friday 22 January, we are able to get our Year 10, 12 and 13 students into school, alongside our Year 11 students completing their Mock exams. From Monday 25 January, our larger year groups start to come in, with Yr 7 (25 Jan) , Yr 8 (26 Jan) and Yr 9 (27 Jan) in school for the day. In the Vice Principal messages below, listed are the days each year level is at school.
We are continuing our work regarding the Inclusivity and Equity agenda with our Steering Committee and Student and Teacher Resource groups all meeting in the week ahead. From our listening and data analysis work last term, six main themes have emerged to focus our initial work:
Reflecting on our Mission, Vision and Values
Policies and procedures
Voice
Celebrations
Curriculum
Learning about Inclusion and Equity
The joint student and staff resource groups will be setting priorities and looking to move quickly into the action phase regarding the Inclusion and Equity work. This work will be reported back to our I & E Steering Committee. Ultimately, we want to do all we can to make sure that every KGV student feels connected, valued and has a strong sense of belonging at our school. This is an improvement process, to make KGV an even better school for our students and community.
Kind Regards,
Mark Blackshaw

We're excited to have Year 10 students back in school for face-to-face lessons over the next few weeks. Their days of attendance are
School will run as normal for period 1 to 4 with period 5 being set work that students complete when they get home.
Please ensure they bring a water bottle and snacks that can be eaten while wearing a mask. Please also note that you must complete the travel and health declaration through the ESF App before your child returns to school for face-to-face learning.
Tutors are meeting one to one with Year 10 students during tutor time. They are discussing the data from term 1 and exploring how your child is progressing, celebrating successes and exploring potential support that may be required.
Please look out for a Lionel note summarising the discussion and see how you can support or engage from home. With so much learning happening from home, students need parents to become involved and support them more than ever.
There was a huge buzz of excitement as Year 11 students left their first mock exam on Monday this week. I have been impressed with how seriously they are taking the process and how well they are preparing and using their study time.
Mock exams continue all next week, please help your child to dress warmly for the exams at school, get a good amount of sleep, exercise regularly, eat well and be organised with their revision.
We are closely monitoring news from the UK about GCSE and IGCSE exams and will update you with confirmed information following the mock exams.
On these days, classes will run as normal from period 1 to 4 with period 5 being set work that students complete when they get home.
