Dear Parents,
As promised last Friday, we wanted to update you on the scheduling of year level attendance and the daily timings for the weeks after the CNY break until the end of Term 2. In line with EDB attendance guidelines that allow attendance for one third of the school capacity for half days, we can confirm that each year level can attend school every second day. This will mean that students will attend at least 5 days across each of our 10 day timetable cycle.
Please see below the attendance schedule for all year groups showing when they are in school and at home learning online. At the bottom of the App message, you can click on the button to forward to your email, if you wish to view this on a larger screen.
Please also see the daily timings below.
The new daily timings enables students at school to:
Experience face to face learning for four out of five classes each day
Leave school at 1pm each day and then travel home to attend an online class with their teacher starting at 2.25pm
Enjoy a 25 minute break time during the day
For students who are learning online for the day, we will also follow this new timetable, as students continue to experience five full lessons each day of teaching and learning.
Even though we have provided a five week schedule, we are obviously living in a constantly changing environment that may further impact on our operations. We will again look to re-confirm these arrangements through an ESF App message update later next week.
Please also be reminded to record your child’s temperature daily using the ESF App. We will be requiring temperatures to be recorded for all days, including the day your child completes lessons online. This complies with the EDB requirements and the tracking of student health data.
There is also a brief YouTube video explaining the arrangements. Please click on this link if you would like further information.
Thank you all again for your support to ‘your child, our student’ during this unique time. As the well known saying goes, “it takes a whole village to raise a child”. I hope you have an enjoyable CNY break and I look forward to providing you all with an update later next week.

Dear Parents,
This week we are proud to share with you the amazing accomplishments of Cyrus Fu. Cyrus has been working incredibly hard with his music studies and participated in two violin competitions in 2020. The first was the 8th Hong Kong International Youth Performing Arts Festival and the other one was the 4th (Taiwan) Asia Aegean Sea Music Competition. In both these competitions Cyrus managed to clinch the title of first runner-up as well. Over the past year Cyrus has also earned himself the ABRSM grade 8 violin exam, where he scored 140 points with remarkable feedback from the examiner. Well done Cyrus, we are all really proud of you.
We are also extremely proud of the Year 7 Transition Leaders who have been remarkable ambassadors for KGV School over the past few days, as they confidently talked to our Year 6 students about KGV and their experiences this year. Mr Wrigley has been so impressed with your ability to speak in front of groups of students. Well done again to this group of students.
Please read Mr Blackshaw’s newsletter item carefully and take note of the days the Year 7s are in school and online next half term. In the first week back, Year 7 students attend school on Tuesday 23 February and Thursday 25 February. Watch the youtube presentation for further explanation for KGV arrangements for students.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support across this half term. I will be in touch after the CNY break to make sure that your families are well informed about the new schedules for face-to-face learning. In the meantime, I hope you are able to take some time over the weekend to celebrate the CNY with your family and friends.

(I)GCSE exam update
To confirm the news shared last week.
Only the following exams are confirmed to run; Business Studies, Chinese, Computer Science, Drama, English, Geography, ICT, Korean, Music, Sports Studies and World Literature.
For subjects with cancelled exams, we are waiting for details of how grades will be awarded. These details will be shared with you as soon as we know, however they will be based on evidence drawn from assessments.
We met with Y11 students in an assembly on Tuesday and reinforced that there will be assessments in the remainder of the year that will affect their final grades for all their subjects so all students need to continue to study, revise and prepare as normal. Those students who undertake coursework in any subject should also remain committed to this unless they are informed otherwise by their subject teachers.
