Dear Parents and Carers,
Every day, I feel a deep sense of privilege to be Principal at KGV School, and to work with dedicated staff, talented and hardworking students, and supportive and involved parents. This year has been a challenging year, especially in terms of the constant change and uncertainty of the current pandemic. Working together with the common purpose of putting students first in all we do, is our guiding star. Thank you for your ongoing support and the work you have done to support ‘your child, our student’ over the past academic year.
I would like to give a shout-out to our ESF KGV staff. Our support staff works very hard to support our students and keep the wheels of the school turning. Their work is vital, and we appreciate their contribution to our school and its impact on learning. Our teachers are passionate, committed and go above and beyond for our students. The learning outcomes our students achieve is a reflection of the quality teaching, and excellent student-teacher relationships.
Thank you also to all our parents and guardians. Your impact on student learning is powerful. Parenting is one of the most rewarding and challenging ‘jobs’ you can have. Your unrelenting support for your child and your active involvement in our school is valued and appreciated.

Scholastic Chess Tournament
A massive congratulations to Anjaneya (Y10) and Jenson (Y8) who competed April and May Scholastic Chess Tournament and achieved the championship for their division against students from Sha Tin College, Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School, Hong Kong Academy, Nord Anglia International School, Discovery College and Diocesan Boys’ School.
Well done to everyone involved!
Autism Acceptance Poem
Our remarkable alumna - Nichola (Class of 2017) has written a poem about Autism Acceptance when her former boarding school had their Autism Acceptance Event.
Acceptance
Just because of who I am,
I may not sense or understand,
Everything on what is happening,
I need the time to perceive as it is challenging.
I know, because I have differences,
Sometimes if things get too much, I need to take my distances,
It is often tricky to get used to this bit,
But it is important for us to learn and accept it.
You should not feel you have to fit in The Crowd,
Saying “no” to take time for yourself is allowed,
You are doing this for your own benefit,
To not feel the pressure to do more than your limit.
If we know and learn about acceptance,
The world for everyone will have more pleasance,
Because of all differences being accepted,
It will make us feel more loved and connected.
Just remember you are all fantastic,
Despite having differences, it is best to be authentic,
Let’s hope to accept differences every day,
Rather than just on April 2nd, World Autism Day.
To begin with, autism is more than just awareness,
Let’s treat it with acceptance, respect, and kindness!

Winners of the HKEF Inter-school Equestrian Challenge 2021 (Higher Division)
A few weeks ago Charmaine, Aden and Julie participated in the HKEF’s Interschool Equestrian competition in the Higher Division.
In the Higher Division, a total of 33 riders from 14 schools completed both the Ingestre Preliminary Dressage Test 7 (2014) and a course of jumps up to 80 cm. Of the 7 teams, King George V School (KGV) led the field with the highest overall score of 480.65.
This year, the Higher Division competition adopted a video submission format to allow participants to compete at their usual riding schools and to accommodate changing pandemic-linked restrictions. Nevertheless, while the various interruptions have meant a later finish to the competition and no grand final, the collected videos, judged by Tim Downes FBHS and Deborah Coulson BHSI, revealed some excellent riding and an outstanding performance by team champions, Julie, Charmaine and Aden.
Well Done!
