We wish all Year 10 students and families a safe and relaxing half-term break next week. Following the break there are only two weeks of school before Challenge Week. Thank you for settling the invoices for this major event. Please check with your child so you are aware of their activity fir the week and how to find the information page on the Challenge Week website.
Year 11 options
A Year 11 options presentation for parents is scheduled for 6pm on Tuesday October 19th. Please use this Google meet link to attend live. The presentation is limited to the first 100 participants so questions can be managed. It will be recorded and shared immediately afterwards.
Year 11 Mock Examinations
Dates for the Year 11 mock examinations in January have not changed despite a change to the dates for the December holidays. Year 11 students will now have two school weeks before their mock exams commence on January 17th. This additional time allows teachers to provide guided study and revision in class. Students will have the option of taking the last two days before the exams (Thursday and Friday Jan 13 and 14) as study leave at home or to come into school. If they choose to come into school, they will follow their normal timetable and use their classrooms as study spaces. Their teachers will be present to supervise and to help with study questions.
One to one meetings
Students are completing their 1:1 conversations with their tutors at the moment. This is where they are guided to set relevant personal goals and helped to get organised and seek any necessary support. Please contact your child's tutor if you feel there is anything they should know.
Challenge Week
Challenge Week is two weeks after half-term break. Thank you for settling the invoices that have been sent. Please ensure you can find the information page for your child's activity on the Challenge Week website.
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I cannot quite believe that Year 7 students have already completed 8 weeks of their KGV Year 7 experience. The Year 7 team is so proud of how much they have grown over the past half term. We have seen such a change in their confidence, maturity and resilience. You should be extremely proud of what they have achieved during this time. Thank you for your support during this time. It has most certainly been a team effort.
Today you will have received an email providing details of the baseline scores achieved by your child. Hopefully you will have viewed the recording of the Parent Information Session where we explained how to interpret this data and how we use this information to provide bespoke support (and extension) for your child at KGV. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s tutor if you have any questions on this data.
After the half term break, we will be spending time preparing students for their Challenge Week activities. Yesterday I met with our external providers, Edstart who will be coming into school on 26th October to meet with our Year 7 students. They will talk to the year group about the Coasteering activities and the visit to Kadoorie Farm. In the meantime, we really need you to complete the form sent to you by Edstart. Please click the link here and complete as a matter of urgency. Your child will not be able to participate if this form is not submitted. On Thursday 21st October, there will be a Year 7 Challenge Week Parent Information Session available for you to access online from 5pm. I will send the link out to you at the start of next half term.
Wishing you and your family a relaxing half term break.
Dear Parents and Caregivers
I cannot quite believe that Year 8 students are already at half term. The Year 8 team is so proud of how much they have grown over the past half term. We have seen such a change in their confidence, maturity and resilience. You should be extremely proud of what they have achieved during this time. Thank you for your support during this time. It has most certainly been a team effort.
As we wrap up this half term, please can I ask you to check the following;
You have returned your student grant form. If not, please drop this into the KGV reception over half term,
You have uploaded your child’s vaccination records via the google form sent out to parents.
At the start of the next half term we will be focusing on preparing your child for their Challenge Week activities. Please spend some time over the break talking about the activities and relaying any questions or concerns you may have to your child’s tutor.
Wishing you and your family a relaxing half term break.
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
It is hard to believe that we are already at the end of the first half term! We have packed so much into the past 8 weeks. Thank you for your support over the half term. It has been a team effort and on behalf of the Year 9 Team, I would like to say thank you for working with the school to ensure your child has had an enjoyable and positive start to the school year.
Next half term will see a focus on option choices for Year 9 students. Mr Tranter (Senior Head of Year 8-9) and Mr Ferriday (Head of Year 10-11 Curriculum) have put together some information to help you navigate the option choice decisions which need to be made by the first week in November. Please click the link here to access the subject choice information and to see how you and your child are supported through the process.
At the start of the next half term we will be focusing on preparing your child for their Challenge Week activities. Please spend some time over the break talking about the activities and relaying any questions or concerns you may have to your child’s tutor.
Wishing you and your family a relaxing half term break.
We would like to reassure our Year 13 IB students that the dates of their Mock Examinations will remain unchanged. Having consulted with our Year 13 student body, the unanimous feedback was that our students wished for the exam dates to remain unchanged. Therefore the Year 13 Mock Examinations will begin on Monday 10th January 2022.
As school now resumes after the Christmas break on Monday 3rd January 2022, our Year 13 BTEC students will attend school as normal. We are giving our IB students the flexibility to continue to study at home or come into school for a tutorial with their subject teacher. Classes will continue to be timetabled as normal and teachers will be available to support students during this time.
Wishing you a great weekend.
Year 12 tutor 1:1 meetings will continue after the half-term break. During these meetings our tutors will be discussing goals and helping our students to set personalised targets.
Wishing you a great weekend.

Our Remarkable Story
Arthur and Kobe have both passed their Taekwondo Black Belt 1st Poom examination on 26 Sep 2021.
There was so much action in the 2.5 hours with lots of form performing, self-defense and sparring. Needless to say, a lot of wooden boards were being smashed by punches, kicks and strikes.
Well done Kobe & Arthur!
