Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope you are all well and ‘your child and our student’ thrived over the Summer vacation. We are very excited about the coming week ahead and welcome all our students back to KGV. We certainly hope that we will continue on a path back to some normality, and our students can once again be part of the ‘complete’ KGV experience.
I especially want to welcome all our incoming new Year 7 students and another 80 plus new students joining us across years 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. We appreciate that starting a new school can be exciting and daunting, and we will do all we can to make the transition into our KGV family as smooth as possible.
Below is a list of things to know about and consider, as we approach the start of the school year next week.
School Day
Year 7, 10, 12 and all new students to KGV start school on Tuesday 23 August at 8:15am
All students attend school on Wednesday 24 August at 8.:5am
We are running our normal timetable which is 8:15 am to 3.20 pm Tuesday to Friday and 8:15 am to 2:05 pm on Mondays
Years 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 have all reached the 90% two-dose vaccination level and can eat lunch unsupervised at school. Year 7 and 8 students have yet to reach the 90% threshold. Students in Year 7 and 8 will need to bring a handheld snack to eat in Tutor time and they will eat lunch in designated eating areas from 1.25 pm each day.
COVID Updates
Before students come to school next week, all parents need to access the ESF App, tap on Lionel 2 VLE, then scroll down to Covid-19 Health Declaration 2022 (Aug 2022). Tap the blue ‘here’, to complete the form. Note that if it is the first time you have accessed Lionel this year, you will need to verify or update the medical records for your child(ren).
We all still need to complete a RAT Test and take our temperatures, recording this on the ESF App each morning before coming to school. Failure to update the RAT and temperature check in ESF App requires us to follow up with students and then contact you. Students will not be able to return to classes until the daily RAT and temperature is updated by the parent on the ESF App.
Students should stay at home and let us know if they are positive on the RAT test. The school is then required to inform the CHP.
We will give RAT kits to students next week. There will be enough tests to cover the first 4 weeks of school.
We still need to wear masks everyday. Please ensure that your child has some spare masks packed.
Students with an "Amber Code", can still attend school but are not allowed to participate in any mask-off activities at school. They will also need to eat lunch at school in a separate designated area with other “Amber students”. Please let us know on the ESF App if your child is Amber Code.
Parents and Guardians with an "Amber Code" are not allowed to enter the school premises. Parents and Guardians who are Amber need to drop their child off at the front gate or remain in their vehicle whilst in the school driveway.
Vaccination Updates
Only students who are double vaccinated for at least 14 days can participate in extra-curricular or any mask-off activities (e.g. swimming in PE lessons).
Please update the vaccination records for your child(ren) in the App. Tap on Lionel 2 VLE, then scroll down to Covid-19 Health Vaccination Pass and tap on the blue ‘here’, to complete the form and upload the vaccination certificate.
Uniforms
Students should wear PE and Drama kit only for those lessons. Except that if a student has PE or Drama in Lesson 1, they can wear their PE/Drama uniform to school, or if they have PE/Drama in Period 5, they can wear the uniform home.
School uniform can be ordered here
Students must wear a black leather belt when wearing shorts or trousers. All students should wear black polishable shoes. Trainers/runners worn with the PE uniform can be any colour. See here for the KGV Student Dress Code

Our teachers and support staff have all been back since 15 August and are well prepared and excited to welcome our students to KGV. We are also keen to continue our strong engagement with parents as we continue to do all we can to ensure that ‘your child and our student ’ has every opportunity to be ‘their own remarkable’.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We hope you and your families are well and have been enjoying the last days of the summer break! We all have a big week coming up. The most important thing we would like parents to do is to breathe and remember our children will pick up on our stresses! The students will be amazing and will do us all proud.
The parent WhatsApp has been alive with parents and caregivers making sure they are all prepared for next Tuesday. To support you all we are offering an online parent session at 11 am on Monday 22 August. This is an informal opportunity for you to meet the Year 7 team and to ask your last-minute questions. Details for joining this meet can be found below.
Google Meet Code: https://meet.google.com/ktn-ezsw-ayj
One important job to complete before Tuesday 23 August is the uploading of your child’s vaccination details on the ESF App. All students will need to be double vaccinated to participate in extracurricular activities and to take part in their swimming lessons. Please go onto the ESF App and look for the vaccination section on the LIONEL 2 VLE icon.
On Tuesday morning, parents can bring their child to school, but only those who are double vaccinated and have a blue code on their Leave Home Safe App can enter the premises. If you do bring your child into school please complete the Leave Home Safe App on arrival and be ready to leave at 8:15 am to enable us to start the day with students.
Year 7 students will have their official school photographs taken on Tuesday and have the opportunity to register their octopus onto the KGV system.
You will have received an email from your child’s tutor containing more details about the transition programme. Please read all the information in the email carefully, as well as the newsletter details before posting questions in the WhatsApp chat!
We are excited to see our Year 7 students on Tuesday and work with you closely over the coming academic year.
Have a great weekend.

Dear Parents & Students,
We are excited to be planning and running a near-typical CAS Activities program. Whilst the current situation remains fairly stable, we are also looking ahead and requesting your understanding of the possibility that changes and adaptations may still be necessary due to changes in circumstances..
We will have to abide by the rules and guided directives from EDB and ESF, which may involve changes such as rescheduling, cancellation, a shortened program and so on at short notice. We will do our best to communicate any changes as clearly and as soon as possible through the KGV bulletin, ESF App, website or email. To that note, only students that have received their second dose of the vaccination will be eligible to sign up for CAS activities.
The CAS Activity program is an important part of KGV life. Our aim is for all students to become involved in regular activity outside of lesson time for their general health and wellbeing. The KGV CAS Activities website is specially designed and dedicated to all things relating to the activities program (https://www.kgvcasactivities.com/). During the first week of term, we encourage students to browse through the site, have a look at the activity brochures and then follow the instructions on how to sign up!
Important Dates:
Registration is NOT on a first-come-first-served basis. All students registered will be placed on the waiting list until the end of the registration period. If the number of enrolment exceeds the maximum number of participants, names will be drawn randomly by Lionel to only allocate those that have been pre-approved by parents to join the activity: Parent view guide.
For more information about signing up, withdrawal, allocation and parental approval click here.
The KGV shop will be open to parents and students on Monday 22 August, 9 am-4 pm. From Tuesday 23 August onwards the shop will operate on regular hours from 8:00 am-3:45 pm.
Please note all stationery purchases must be by Octopus card only. Please ensure you have sufficient funds in your Octopus card, as there is no add-value service at our shop.
