Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Thank you for your ongoing support during our Challenge Week programme this week. To be honest, the weather caused a lot of trials and tribulations, especially with outdoor activities. Our students, staff and external providers have shown considerable resilience and have gained so much from the week. A special shout out to our Year 7 students who have experienced their first Challenge Week and have pushed themselves hiking, cycling and coasteering.
Thank you to VP Tim Carrell and Ian Goff for leading the Challenge week programme and all our staff involved. It takes many hours of planning and organising for each activity, and we appreciate very much the work needed to provide a range of activities for our students. Challenge Week strongly aligns with our school mission to ‘be your own remarkable’, and we hope many students got the chance to learn new skills, make new friends, and challenge themselves!
Government Grant Forms
Thank you to all the parents who have returned the $2500 Government Grant forms. We submitted these forms this week. We are emailing parents who have not yet returned the form to us to remind them so we can meet the Government deadline. Please email Kiran at kiran.budhrani@kgv.edu.hk if you have any questions.
Winter Uniform
Our Winter uniform period starts this Monday, 7 November. The only significant difference is that students wear ties during the Winter months. Please see here for our uniform policy. To avoid parents paying delivery charges for the ties, we have purchased a bulk quantity from our online supplier and will sell them to our students from our KGV Shop with no markup. However, you may also buy the ties from the uniform supplier’s website. Please explore our uniform website for winter uniform purchases. Next week is transition week as we support our students moving to our Winter uniform.
Learning Reviews
As mentioned several weeks ago, we are looking to trialing a new approach to parent and teacher interviews (called Learning Reviews) this year. We discussed the concept in some detail with parents PTSA, who endorsed our opinion that parents see the Learning Reviews with subject teachers as a most valuable type of reporting and feedback. The challenge in the past is that scheduled interviews across an evening for a specific year level never provide enough appointment slots for parents to see all the teachers they wish to see.
To address this, we plan to concentrate all Learning Review interviews on two days, Wednesday, 23 November and Thursday, 1 December and the evening of 6 December. We expect that these times will provide enough opportunity for every parent to speak to all subject teachers of their daughter and son. On the two days of interviews, students will be provided with detailed work they can access online via Google Classrooms. Interview booking processes will be emailed to parents later next week.
Have a good evening.

Year 12 and 13 Message
We hope all of our students made the most of their Challenge Week experiences and look forward to seeing everyone on Monday morning.
Wishing you a great weekend.
Message from Year 7
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
What a week! Definitely a 'challenge' for all this week!
I want to thank you for your support. Your children have been amazing. It has been a real pleasure to spend the week with them. I hope they have come home each evening with stories of new friends they have made and challenges they have conquered. Please express to them how proud teachers are of them and their attitudes.
Next week, we come back in winter uniform. This essentially means wearing a school tie. We will have a transition week to ensure all families have had the chance to purchase the tie. There is a small stock of ties available from our KGV shop. Starting 14 November, all students should be wearing a tie.
The first of our Learning Reviews takes place on 23 November. Details will be sent to you next week about how to make appointments with your child's subject teachers.
Have a great weekend.
