Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I hope you have enjoyed a good week. As part of our vision, we aim to make a difference in the communities we serve. This is evident in much of the work we do, including CAS activities, Service Learning, Challenge Week and throughout our taught curriculum. We also look for every opportunity to make a positive difference to our environment, with sustainability being ever more important on both a local and global scale.
At KGV we are aiming to continue to improve our approaches to environmental sustainability. Earlier this week, we joined The Alliance for Sustainable Schools to demonstrate this commitment. By being part of this network we aim to learn with and from other schools who are adopting sustainable practices. At KGV we have a newly formed Sustainable Development Committee who will focus on this work. This group includes KGV staff, students, parents and alumni who all have interest and expertise on sustainability practices. We will focus on a range of key areas such as food, energy consumption, transportation, buildings and education. More details will follow next academic year and we will be looking to engage with our wider parent community in due course.
On a separate note, please be reminded that the last day of this academic year is Friday 28th June. This will be a shortened day with school finishing at 12pm. School buses will leave at approximately 12.15pm.
I hope you enjoy celebrating the Tuen Ng festival on Monday and have an enjoyable long weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark
We hope that all of our Year 12 students enjoy a well-deserved rest over the Public Holiday weekend after what has been a challenging Assessment Week for our students.
We look forward to seeing everyone back on campus on Tuesday morning.
Wishing you a great weekend.
A number of students finished their last GCSE exam this week. Congratulations to them and we wish them a restful summer break.
Exams continue next week:
The full exam timetable is here
All exam procedures are here
We finish the year off with a few busy weeks ahead. Next Monday is a public holiday and then following that we have GCSE music exam performances during lunch break, GCSE drama performances next Friday and options information coming out to parents and students before the end of the term.
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We only have three weeks left until the end of the school year. These will be busy weeks as students complete units of work and teachers prepare end-of-year reports. It is important to keep a close eye on students as they will be tired and digging deep to finish the year strong. Please reach out to the Year 7 team if we can support you in any way.
Next week, in tutor time, all students will attend the next stage in the Year 7 Spell Bee competition. Good luck to those students who are participating and we look forward to sharing results with you next week.
A reminder that Monday is a Public Holiday. We look forward to seeing students back in school on Tuesday.
Have a lovely long weekend.
The Year 7 Team
At KGV, we are committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all students - both in the classroom and during their travels to and from school. With this core value in mind, I would like to address some recent reports of inappropriate student behaviour observed on specific bus routes.
While the majority of our students demonstrate exemplary conduct and maturity while riding the school bus or public transport, we have received a small number of concerning reports about disruptive activities, such as playing games on phones, that have led to the use of unacceptable language, including swear words and racial slurs.
This unacceptable behaviour goes against the behavioural expectations that define our KGV community. We take great pride in fostering an environment of mutual respect, kindness, and inclusivity. The use of discriminatory language, in particular, is a form of bullying that will not be tolerated.
With your support, we can reinforce the importance of upholding these standards, even when students are outside the classroom. Please take a moment to have a positive discussion with your child, emphasising that maintaining respect for others, avoiding disruptive activities, and using appropriate language are essential to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all our students. By working together, I am confident we can promote behaviour that best suits our school community.
This has been a busy and productive school year, and I know our students and staff have been working hard. With three weeks left of term, the long weekend provides an excellent opportunity to rest, recharge, and spend quality time with family and friends. Whether you have unique plans or want to take it easy, I encourage you to make the most of this extra time together. Enjoy the sunshine, engage in your favourite activities, and create special memories.
I wish you all a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable long weekend!
Please see the updated Academic Integrity guidelines for KGV. Within the guidelines you will see a section for parent/guardian responsibilities. One of the stimuli for the update was the advent of AI and you will see it referred to in the guidelines as an "assistive technology".

Year 13
- IBO Result Service. It is a service provided by IB to send final results directly to the institution(s) students have chosen. It is necessary for IB students to sign up to this service so that their final IB results will be delivered directly by IBO to the higher institutions as soon as results are released. This ensures no delay in securing offers. Deadline to make a request via our Exam Office was 24 May 2024. If students have missed this deadline, they should get in touch with the Exam Office <exam@kgv.edu.hk> immediately.
- If students plan to take a gap year or apply to Australia after graduation, we would appreciate it if they can inform their HE Counsellors about their plans so that we can support them when it’s time for them to make their applications.
Year 12
- Google Classrooms. Our HE Team has set up Google Classrooms for Y12 students for communication on higher education issues.
- Y12s’ 1-to-1 meeting with their HE Counsellors. Those students who have yet to do the 1-to-1 meeting should reach out to their HE Counsellors at the soonest.

Other upcoming presentations will cover these topics: Non-mainstream destinations (5 Jun), UCAS Setup (12 Jun), and Summer Action Plan (19 Jun). Students have received the presentation schedule via Google Classroom.
Parents’ Support for KGV Careers Fair and Careers Exposure
The Careers Office organises various opportunities for our students to explore careers options. The annual September Careers Fair and various work experiences are some of them. These could not have happened without our wonderful parent’s support. We are hoping to introduce more opportunities for our students.
For parents who would like to collaborate with KGV, please take two minutes to complete this form here. Our team will get in touch with you to discuss further the opportunities that you may bring to community.
We truly appreciate your support. Thank you!
