Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I trust this email finds you well. It is at this time of year, with two weeks of term left, that we naturally start to reflect on the successes of this academic year. The Year 9 students will mark the culmination of three years of MYP learning through their celebratory event on Monday. This provides the opportunity for them to share the outcomes of their Community Project, as well as signalling the culmination of three years of learning where the students have been building their knowledge across a range of subjects as well as developing a range of important skills. We will also have the opportunity to showcase our sporting success during the Sports Awards on Thursday, for what is sure to be a wonderful event for all of those involved.
As well as having such events to celebrate our successes, I would encourage all students to reflect on their growth this year. By taking the time to consider their achievements and successes, each and every student will be able to recognise how they have taken that next step to being their own remarkable.
We also recognise that there is likely to be a level of tiredness that comes with a busy term where students have achieved so much. We will continue to encourage students to maintain the healthy routines that enable them to be successful, and are looking forward to a positive and productive last two weeks of the academic year.
Have a wonderful weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
This week we held our semi-final of the Spelling Bee. The students were amazing! Congratulations to Allie Ngai, Anson Hung and Jayden Chin who are finalists! The final of the Spelling Bee will be on Tuesday, 25th June!
As we enter the final two weeks of term, we are asking students to dig deep in terms of good behaviour and looking after their valuables. We want to finish the year strong and recognise students are tired. It is important for us all to support them in these final days after such a positive Year 7.
Let's hope the rain stops and you can have a dry and pleasant weekend.
The Year 7 Team
With the Physics exams today, many students have completed their exams now. Congratulations to them and I hope they will take a well-deserved break.
Next week we have the following exams:
The full exam timetable is here
All exam procedures are here
It's always a delight to come together as a school community to celebrate the achievements of our outstanding students. The Year 8 & 9 Team would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the students who were Tutor Award Winners in the Year 8 & 9 Assembly for their outstanding contributions and hard work. A special shout-out goes to Oscar Zhen, who brought great pride to KGV for winning the Robotics Tournament ‘HK Tech Challenge Game 2024’, and he scored in the top 1% in the World in the American Mathematics Competition 8.
Congratulations to Sean Cudderford and Enzo Lam from Year 8, who performed ‘Douze Petits Duos - No.1 Allegro’, Composed by F. Mazas, in our assembly on Thursday. Congratulations to Kobe Wong, Oscar Yip, Micah Chiaro, Jason Lu & Jason Xia from Year 9, who performed ‘No Surprises’ by Radiohead.
As we enter the final stretch of the school year, our students and staff understandably feel a mix of emotions – the tiredness of a hard-working academic year combined with the excitement and anticipation of the approaching summer break.
While it's tempting to let our guard down and coast through these last few weeks, we must maintain our regular routines, keep the learning momentum, and uphold high expectations for our students. This approach will ensure that our students finish the year strong and are well-prepared for the next stage of their educational journey.
We understand that this can be a challenging time for both students and families. Still, your support and contributions are invaluable in creating the best possible experience for our school community over the next few weeks.
Whether it's ensuring your child maintains a consistent sleep schedule, encouraging them to be kind and empathetic to others, or simply encouraging them, your involvement makes a significant difference. Together, we can help our students navigate this transition period and set them up for a successful and rejuvenating summer break.
Have a great weekend.
Our Tutor Award Winners:
Today was the 3rd round of our tutor time competition featuring competitive bingo.
During the week, I was fortunate to join music performances by our Year 10 GCSE students. The quality of performance was exceptional.
Next week we will begin our focus on option choices with Year 10 students during an assembly-like slot. Students will make option choices in November this year for their Year 12 course. They can choose from one of four pathways that we offer and then choose subjects within the chosen pathway. The pathways are:
Each of these pathways offer excellent progression to universities and will support students who have a variety of goals, destinations and working styles. Much more detail will be shared with parents very soon.
The Year 12 team would like to apologise and also thank all of our students who gave us valuable feedback and insight about how the recent incident has negatively impacted so many of our Year 12 students.
We will continue to provide help and support for all of our Year 12 students and would encourage everyone to please get in touch with any of our team if you would like to contribute in any way.
We are very much looking forward to our TEDx event this evening here at school and want to congratulate all of our presenters and organisers of this wonderful event.
Wishing you a great weekend.

Year 13
- IBO Result Service. It is a service provided by IB to send final results directly to the institution(s) students have chosen. It is necessary for IB students to sign up to this service so that their final IB results will be delivered directly by IBO to the higher institutions as soon as results are released. This ensures no delay in securing offers. Deadline to make a request via our Exam Office was 24 May 2024. If students have missed this deadline, they should get in touch with the Exam Office <exam@kgv.edu.hk> immediately.
- If students plan to take a gap year or apply to Australia after graduation, we would appreciate it if they can inform their HE Counsellors about their plans so that we can support them when it’s time for them to make their applications.
- Exit Procedures. Presentation is shared on Google Classroom.
Year 12
- Google Classrooms. Our HE Team has set up Google Classrooms for Y12 students for communication on higher education issues.
- Y12s’ 1-to-1 meeting with their HE Counsellors. Those students who have yet to do the 1-to-1 meeting should reach out to their HE Counsellors at the soonest.
- Y12 action points given by HE Counsellors. These are shared on student’s own Evidence page. Students should refer to these action points when they do the H.E. research over the Summer break.
- Y12 H.E. presentation series. We have completed all H.E.-related presentations. All presentations are shared with students via Google Classroom. We will share the Summer Action Plan with parents soon.
Parents’ Support for KGV Careers Fair and Careers Exposure
The Careers Office organises various opportunities for our students to explore careers options. The annual September Careers Fair and various work experiences are some of them. These could not have happened without our wonderful parent’s support. We are hoping to introduce more opportunities for our students.
For parents who would like to collaborate with KGV, please take two minutes to complete this form here. Our team will get in touch with you to discuss further the opportunities that you may bring to community.
We truly appreciate your support. Thank you!
