Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
The last week has brought much joy and excitement that comes from celebrating so many achievements from this academic year. The KGV Sports Awards reflected the extraordinary success and talent of our young sports people, as well as the commitment and expertise of our staff in providing such opportunities. The remarkable Year 9 Community Project reflected the importance of service learning, with so many examples of impactful action across a wide range of themes. Across these events, and many other moments of celebration, the beaming smiles and pride of both students and parents shine through.
This time of year can also bring mixed emotions. The excitement of the summer ahead, the tiredness that comes at the end of the academic year, and saying farewell to some friends and staff who are moving on from KGV. It is at these times where the strong sense of belonging that comes from being part of our remarkable community is so important, and we will continue to enjoy the opportunities to reflect and celebrate in the coming week.
A quick reminder that our last day of term will be Friday 28th June, and is a dress casual day. We will finish at 12 pm, with school buses leaving at approximately 12.15 pm. Also, please look out for emails that give you details for the start of next academic year.
I hope you enjoy a restful and relaxing weekend, and we are looking forward to an exciting last week of term.
Best regards,
Mark Poulsum
We enjoyed the KGV Sports awards on Thursday evening, congratulations to:

All of this information will be presented to parents at the start of next term.
We will ask students to empty their lockers next week
Please use absence system in ESF App if your child will be away at all next week.
Next Friday is a dress casual day ($20 donation for school charities) and 12 o'clock finish.
GCSE exams wrapped up on Wednesday with Food tech. There were many relieved students looking forward to a well-earned summer break.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

A huge congratulations to Raphael Yuan, who was awarded Year 7 Sports Person of the Year, and congratulations to Jonah Aston and Saira Le Bon, who were finalists in this category.
The following students received D Grade Excellence Awards

We are so proud of our Year 7 students.
With less than a week to go, please keep a close eye on your child and help them manage themselves successfully to the end of term. Next Friday is a dress casual day. The Theme is 'colourful' as we celebrate the end of Pride Month. Students are encouraged to bring a HK$20 donation to our school charities. School will finish at 12 pm with buses departing at 12.15 pm.
All information regarding the start of term will be shared with parents next week.
Have a lovely weekend.
We look forward to seeing many of you at the annual Year 8 'Macbeth' Exhibition next week. As always, our students have tried to deepen their understanding of the play and create imaginative projects. We are excited to showcase their impressive work and would be delighted for you to join us.
With the weather turning increasingly hot these past few weeks, please ensure your child comes to school properly hydrated, with a water bottle they can refill throughout the day. Please encourage them to drink water regularly to stay refreshed.
We've noticed a significant increase in lost property and unmarked drink bottles accumulating at school. Labelling belongings, from water bottles and lunchboxes to uniforms and sports gear, makes it much easier for us to identify and return lost items to their rightful owners quickly. This saves time and resources and helps prevent unnecessary waste and expenses for replacement items.
Please take a moment to check that your child's name is written on all of their belongings before they come to school. Encourage them to keep track of their items and to go to the KGV Shop if something goes missing. Together, we can minimise the amount of unclaimed lost property and ensure your child's valuables are safeguarded.
We understand that the end of the school year can be a time of excitement and fatigue. If you notice your child becoming overwhelmed or struggling to focus, feel free to contact their Tutor Teacher or our Year 8 & 9 Student Development Team. We provide support and guidance to ensure a positive wrap-up to the academic year.
A reminder that we have a 12 pm finish on Friday, 28 June, and it is a casual dress day.
Have a great weekend.

Dear Parents and Students,
I am writing to update the entire Year 12 community on our investigation into the recent serious incident. We held an assembly with the students today to provide an overview of what we have done, and our next steps.
As you know, we have treated this matter with the utmost seriousness. We have ensured that we have closely followed our ESF policy and KGV guidelines throughout our investigation and used this to inform the outcomes of this process.
We will of course continue to offer support for all of our Year 12 students impacted by this incident. This support will continue throughout the next academic year and will involve working with our ESF Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Lead Professionals in the facilitation of appropriate educational workshops. These sessions will help prepare our students for life beyond KGV and equip them with the skills to thrive as they progress to the next important stage of their lives.
Thank you again to our parents and students for your support and patience during this challenging period.
Wishing you a great weekend.
CAS Update
At KGV, we embrace that education extends beyond the classroom. We recognize the immense value of extracurricular (CAS) activities in shaping well-rounded individuals and fostering a vibrant school community. As such, we have an established and comprehensive CAS program that offers diverse opportunities for our students to explore their interests, cultivate their talents, and develop essential life skills.
This year has seen the largest and most active CAS program on record.
Headlines:
To enable the success and sustainability of our CAS program, we rely on the dedication and commitment of the KGV staff. By actively participating in the CAS program, our staff act as positive role models, mentors, and facilitators of personal growth for our students. Their valuable contributions have played a pivotal role in enriching the lives of our students beyond their academic pursuits, so a huge thank you to all staff for making the CAS program what it is.
If there is something missing from our CAS program, please complete the suggestion form and we will do our best to try and add to the program: CAS Suggestion Form

- IBO Result Service. It is a service provided by IB to send final results directly to the institution(s) students have chosen. It is necessary for IB students to sign up to this service so that their final IB results will be delivered directly by IBO to the higher institutions as soon as results are released. Parents’ Support for KGV Careers Fair and Careers Exposure
The Careers Office organises various opportunities for our students to explore careers options. The annual September Careers Fair and various work experiences are some of them. Community Project
Year 9 Students Conclude Impactful Community Project Journey
The Year 9 students recently concluded their Community Project journey, marking a significant milestone in their Middle Years Programme (MYP) learning. Over the past 6 months, the students worked collaboratively in small groups to develop a deeper awareness of the diverse needs within their local and global communities. Through an engaged inquiry process, they identified areas where they could make a meaningful difference. "The Community Project allowed us to put our MYP knowledge into practice," said a student. "We didn't just learn about community issues in the abstract - we were able to take action and positively impact the lives of others."
From organising food drives to hosting educational workshops, the students' service actions were tailored to address the specific needs they had uncovered. This hands-on approach enabled them to consolidate their learning while gaining invaluable real-world experience. "I'm incredibly proud of the dedication and compassion our Year 9 students have demonstrated throughout this journey," commented MYP Coordinator, Mr. Turner. "They have truly embraced the spirit of the MYP by becoming agents of positive change within their communities." For groups that took fundraising as an option, collectively raised $15,000 for good causes across Hong Kong.
The Community Project is a cornerstone of the MYP, empowering students to make connections between their academic studies and the broader world. This service learning experience equips young people with essential 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, communication, and collaboration. As the Year 9 students reflect on their journey, they express a renewed sense of social responsibility and a deeper appreciation for the power of collective action. This transformative project has undoubtedly left a lasting impact on both the students and the communities they serve.
To have a look at some of the groups actions:
Thank you for supporting students throughout the process and for joining us to celebrate their work on Monday.
Regards
Mr Beard
Congratulations to Kana Leung on her fantastic tennis achievement! Kana won the doubles runner-up at the recent ATF Juniors tournament in Japan. This is an impressive accomplishment, and we're proud of Kana representing KGV so well on the international stage. Well done, Kana!
