Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I hope you have enjoyed a good week. IBO Global Research on Well-being in schools highlights the importance of student’s satisfaction with their school lives, emphasising the need for:
A clear sense of purpose and meaning for what they are doing in school.
Positive experiences at school.
Positive feelings about school.
I believe this starts with all students forming strong relationships with their peers and teachers. By engaging with the incredible KGV CAS program, being curious about their learning and enjoying the social moments between lessons, this will help to build that strong sense of belonging that is so crucial to wellbeing.
The strong connection to our parent community is also a vital part of what we do at KGV, and we hope to see you at the Open Day on Monday afternoon where you can ‘see the spaces, meet the people.’ This will provide the opportunity to connect with a variety of teachers, see the learning spaces and gain insights to what we are planning for your child to learn this year.
We will continue to foster these positive relationships as part of our commitment to all students being “Known, Heard, Safe and Successful.’
Thank you for your ongoing support, and have a wonderful weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark Poulsum
Principal
Year 12 & 13 Message
We would like to remind all Year 12 and 13 students that on Monday 2nd September lessons will finish at 12:35pm due to Open Day. A big thank you to all of our Year 12 helpers!
Finally, a reminder that Year 12 Options Window opens on Monday 2nd September. Please see Mr Wightman’s message below:
As mentioned in our recent assembly, now that we have all of the GCSE data, from Monday September 2nd you may collect a subject change request form from myself, Ms Shum or your Head of Year in the senior school curriculum office. Or you may print the form yourself HERE
There is a 2 stage process that you must follow:
Wishing you a great weekend.
Year 10 & 11 Message
We've just finished our first cycle of our two-week timetable.
Year 10 students are able to make option change requests using the form in the Y10/11 office. Note that we can't guarantee all requests will be possible as the timetable is already set up and some classes are full.
We look forward to seeing you during our Open Day on Monday. School will end early at 12:35 and school buses will run at this time. See below for more information.
Following the Open Day next week we have Yellis testing for Year 10s, House assemblies and then the KGV Swim gala the following Monday.
After that we will have a celebration assembly. If your child achieved something memorable over the summer break, please let us know so we can celebrate this with them.
Year 7 Message
It has been a hot but productive week for our KGV students, filled with engaging lessons and activities. A highlight was the start of the Interhouse Competition at lunchtime, where it was heartwarming to see students enthusiastically participating in their respective KGV house colours.
We have designed a new KGV MYP Journal 24/25 for students to reflect on their skill development. We are at the end of Week 3, and it is a good time for our students to write a reflection on how, so far, they have felt connected to KGV. It might be something they felt in a lesson, during a break time, in an Assembly, when having their tutor class photo taken, helping a lost student, etc. A written reflection helps students process their experiences, deepen their understanding, and develop critical thinking skills. As part of our ongoing priority for KGV students to feel known, heard, safe and successful, encourage your child to reflect on Page 19 of the KGV MYP Journal. Use their reflection to discuss what they might do in the coming weeks to feel more connected to KGV.
We look forward to seeing you during our Open Day ‘Meet the People. See the Spaces’ on Monday. School will end early at 12:35, and school buses will run at this time. Please register here if you intend to come along. The goal for the day is to make connections and build a community where we are all known and understood.

Meet the People . See the Spaces
We look forward to welcoming families on Monday. Over 700 have completed the registration form. Please register if you intend to come along.
The goal for the day is to make connections and begin to create a community where we are all known and understood.
Students will finish school at 12:35 and school buses will run at that time. Students are welcome to stay in school to wait for their parents or to go home and come back in with them.
Students must guide their parents around the school. Our campus is large and complex and finding people will be difficult without your child as a guide.
Upon registration, I will send you more detailed information.
CAS Update
It’s great to see the amount of interest in the CAS program. There have been approximately 3000 active sign-ups in the last two weeks. Sign-up closes Sunday 1st of September and allocation takes place following this so please see some notes about what happens next:
Remember to check the new KGV CAS Activities website especially designed and dedicated to all things relating to the activities program (https://www.kgvcasactivities.com/).

School reference (non-higher education purposes) (Link to policy on Lionel)
The KGV Careers Office coordinates all our student references including exit & summer schools.
For students’ privacy, parental permission is required before KGV can release the school reference for your child. KGV will only proceed with requests once parental permission has been received.
To request a school reference, parents are kindly asked to complete this form. Please allow at least four working weeks for teachers to prepare the references.
School references for higher education applications are managed in a separate process.
If students are pursuing gifted and talented programmes outside of KGV, they should contact Mr. Krishin Hotwani directly.
