Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
It has been a real pleasure to see our CAS programme begin in style this week, with our students engaging in so many different activities. Whether they are trying something new, or further developing their expertise in an area of passion, their engagement in Creativity, Action or Service activities are a vital part of each student’s learning experience at KGV. Our CAS programme also provides the opportunity for students to further develop their skills and continue to develop a sense of belonging to the KGV community. Throughout this academic year, I would encourage all students to challenge themselves to try something new and explore different CAS options. I would also like to thank all the staff involved in providing such a range of opportunities for our students.
ESF and KGV are always looking to explore further opportunities to enrich the student experience and provide world leading educational opportunities. The Year 9 Limitless programme is one such activity. A quick reminder to our Y9 parents and students that the deadline for sign up is 24th September. Further information has been sent through the ESF App.
I am sure everyone is looking forward to the Mid-Autumn Festival, an important time to reunite with families and spend time together. I hope you enjoy this special occasion and have a wonderful weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark Poulsum
Year 12 & 13 Message
We hope that all of our Year 12 and 13 parents and students enjoyed our ESF University Fair @ KGV yesterday.
A huge thanks to our Careers team for putting on such a special event. All students appeared to thoroughly enjoy the experience of sharing their interests and passions with the University Admissions Teams.
Wishing you a great weekend.
Year 7 Message
What an incredible day on Monday at the Swimming Gala! The skill and competitiveness displayed by our KGV swimmers were awe-inspiring, showcasing their hard work and dedication. The support from students in the stands added to the excitement, with enthusiastic house chants and cheers echoing throughout the event. The positive vibe was palpable, making it a memorable day for everyone involved. Congratulations to all participants for their outstanding performances!
As we wrap up Week 5, it's an excellent opportunity for our students to reflect on their connection to KGV over the past fortnight. This could relate to experiences at the swimming gala on Monday, during their Interhouse assemblies, a new CAS activity, or in their classes. Writing a reflection helps students process their experiences, deepen their understanding, and enhance their critical thinking skills.
In line with our commitment to ensuring KGV students feel known, heard, safe, and successful, please encourage your child to complete the reflection on Pages 22 and 23 of the KGV MYP Journal. Use this as a chance to discuss with your child how to cultivate a greater sense of purpose and connection to KGV in the weeks ahead.
Next week, we’re excited to welcome back Ms. Carole Beer, our Vice Principal for Year 7. I have truly enjoyed getting to know the Year 7 students and parents over the past five weeks.
I'm sure everyone is excited about the Mid-Autumn Festival next week, a meaningful time to reunite with family and enjoy each other's company. I wish you all a fantastic weekend and a wonderful celebration next week.

In our assembly this week we focussed on celebrating student success and Wellbeing. The Wellbeing Team presented the Wellbeing Support available to students at KGV. Please see the attached presentation and discuss with your child the support available to them. Wellbeing presentation from our Tuesday assembly.
Next week, students will complete the Wellbeing survey that provides ua with important statistical data, asks students to reflect on how they are getting on and prompts them to ask for help if needed.
It was amazing to see the house spirit displayed at the Swim gala on Monday, we had some tired students the following day.
Last Friday, half of year 10 were denied the opportunity to sit the Yellis test by the weather. The test has been rescheduled to next Friday Sep 20th.
Next Wednesday is a public holiday.
Have a great weekend and please continue to monitor how your child is settling into this year and help them to create a pattern of revision on top of their homework.
