Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Caregivers
It has certainly been an active and engaging start to this half-term. Our fantastic swimmers have been participating in the HKSSF competition, our talented musicians have been busy rehearsing for the ESF Concert, and we have continued to finalise our preparations for Challenge Week which is only two weeks away! Such activities are just some examples of what has made this such a vibrant week, and we are looking forward to continuing to build on this positivity.
It has also been a week of engaging opportunities for parents as we continue to develop our home-school partnerships. Over 100 parents attended our Y12/13 curriculum workshop, and our social workers also started their positive parenting workshop series. We also had further opportunities for Y13 parents to engage with how they support their children with university pathways. Please look out for further opportunities to gain insight to your child’s learning experiences through our parent workshop series.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and have a wonderful weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark Poulsum
Principal
Year 12 & 13 Message
We held a Senior School assembly today where Mr Pritchard outlined the steps involved for our Year 12 students who wish to apply for Student Leadership positions here at KGV.
We also shared the schedule for our KGV Year 13 Challenge Week which consists of a blend of workshops, guest speakers, academic interventions and, of course, our now annual trip to Disneyland!
Wishing you a great weekend.
Year 7 Message
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
This week, students have been in preparation mode for events in which they are soon to be involved. We saw students red-faced and tired after their cross-country practice sessions. Year 7 students have their Inter-House Cross Country event on Wednesday. We look forward to the year group giving their all in this event.
Challenge Week is also around the corner, and tutors have been talking to students about the importance of going into this week with the intention of making new friends, pushing themselves out of their comfort zones and of course, having loads of fun! We have a Challenge Week Meeting scheduled for Wednesday next week.
In next week's Year 7 assembly, students will hear information regarding our ROAR week. 14th -18th November is the week we are dedicating to celebrating our 130-year history and our KGV 100th Speech Night. Throughout the week there will be a series of dress-up days. Please speak to your child about their dress up ideas for Monday 14th November - International/ Traditional Dress Day and Friday 18th November - Pride Week (as colourful as possible!). We will be sharing more information with you shortly as to how parents can also be involved in this week.
Have a great weekend.
The Year 7 Team.
Year 10 & 11 Message
In our assembly this week we talked about Challenge Week and the attitude we want students to have for the week. One of taking on the challenge, Supporting each other, helping their teachers and being in the moment.
We also discussed the idea of "Awe" and noticing the world around them. We described 6 ways to experience awe:
Next week we have our final Challenge Week meetings on Wednesday, where students will get the details they need to get to the right place for their activities and to make the most of them. Parents can find all the information on the Challenge Week website.
Option choices are approaching for Year 11 students and choices will be made a few weeks after Challenge Week. To support this, we ran a parent option session at school on Wednesday night. Parents can access the presentation used here:
The week after next, students will receive option talks to help them understand the pathways and subjects available to them next year.
If you have any questions going into the option choice stage, please discuss them initially with your child, then reach out to their tutor if you are unsure of anything.

Students on Campus after School
Please be reminded that students should not be involved in unsupervised activities after school. Our CAS programme runs from 3.30 to 4.45 each day. Once these activities are finished, students should leave campus. We will remind students of these arrangements.
Personal Possessions
Students should remember to use their lockers to store personal belongings and should avoid leaving them unattended. During PE lessons and after school sports activities, they should also leave valuables in the teacher’s possessions box or in their locker.
Interim reports are available for all students. Access them through the app by going to Lionel > CCF (ribbon icon) > Progress Checks.
These are an early indication of how your child is settling into class. They assess their attitude and willingness to engage in their learning and the habits and skills that support learning in the classroom.
If you have any questions, please reach out to the teacher concerned and copy in your child's tutor.

KGV Careers & H.E. Team
The KGV Sport Tsunami shop will reopen today until Monday October 28th. This will allow students the opportunity to purchase any sports kit they may require for their teams.
Students who are competing for KGV in a chosen sport should purchase their own top (and shorts/socks if needed) for that sport. You will be able to personify your tops with your name. Sports that require numbers will have available numbers randomly allocated to ensure we do not have any double ups as per HKSSF rules.
Delivery will be in the first week of December.
The following sports kit will be available to purchase.
The shop will also sell additional items such as caps, visors, bucket hats, sports jackets, swim jackets and training tops. We currently also have a stock of basketball shorts, football/hockey/rugby socks and the range of hats available for purchase at the school KGV shop.
There will be a sizing chart on the shop. Please check this carefully for correct sizing. If you are unsure, we can provide tops to try for sizing. Please come to the CAS office to organise this.
A friendly reminder that we also have a range of second-hand sports kits from last year available to purchase at a discounted rate. Please note these will not be able to have names printed on. Please also reach out if your financial situation may not allow the purchase of the kit as we will do our best to support the student in order for them to participate in KGV sport.
You can find the link to the store here: https://kgv.tsunami-sport.com/
The store will also open at other times during the school year so if you play a term 3 sport, you do not need to purchase now if you don't wish.
