Principal's Message
Dear KGV Families,
It has been another week where the brilliance of the KGV community has shone through. It was wonderful to have our first whole school Sports Day for 8 years, and this was truly a remarkable event with so many students participating and excelling. I would like to say a particular thank you to Xanthe Knight and the PE team for making this happen so seamlessly. We also enjoyed the Winter Concert, yet another world class showcase for our talented musicians. Thank you to Alex Carlile and the music team for putting together this special event.
It is events such as these that create magical memories for our students, and it is always a joy seeing so many proud parents at these join us to celebrate such success.
We are nearing the winter break and our intention is to ensure each student enjoys a positive experience during the last few days of what has been a long term. We will be maintaining our high expectations for each student, whilst also finding the opportunity to celebrate on the last day of term.
Please be reminded that we finish at 12 pm on Friday, and it is a dress casual day with proceeds being donated to the school charities. School buses will leave at 12.15 pm.
Thank you for your ongoing support and have an enjoyable weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark Poulsum
Year 8 & 9 Message
This past week, we had an incredible time at our Whole School Sports Day held at Sham Shui Po Sports Ground. It was an excellent opportunity for our students to showcase their athletic skills and sportspersonship. The enthusiasm and teamwork our Year 8 & 9 students displayed were truly inspiring! Congratulations to all participants, and a special congratulations to all our medal winners.
Congratulations to our Year 8 & 9 students who dedicated themselves to preparing a delightful Christmas Concert, showcasing their hard work and creativity. The concert was a wonderful celebration of the holiday spirit, featuring various performances that brought joy to our families and the wider community.
In line with our commitment to ensuring KGV students feel known, heard, safe, and successful, please encourage your child to complete their reflection on Pages 42 and 43 of the KGV MYP Journal. Use this as a chance to discuss with your child how they felt a sense of purpose and connection to KGV this week.
We kindly request that all families help care for their child's uniform and personal items. Labelling each item will assist your child in keeping track of their belongings and increase the likelihood of promptly returning any lost items. The pile of clothing outside the KGV Shop continues to grow daily. Thank you for your attention to this critical matter!
In August 2025/2026, our new KGV Thrive Curriculum will be implemented for all Year 7 to Year 13 students, featuring one dedicated weekly class period. This curriculum will cover various year-appropriate topics, including PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education), RSE (Relationships and Sex Education), Digital Citizenship, Health and Wellbeing, and Living in the Wider World. We value the parent voice around this curriculum and encourage you to contribute to your child's learning here.
As we approach the final week of Term 1, we want to reflect on the importance of routines and maintaining a sense of calm during this busy time. The last week of term can often be filled with excitement as we prepare for the upcoming break. Still, it is essential to remember that a structured routine can significantly benefit our students, your child, focus and wellbeing. Please be reminded that we finish at 12 pm on Friday, and it is a dress casual day with proceeds being donated to the school charities. School buses will leave at 12.15 pm.
Have a great weekend!
Year 12 & 13 Message

Wishing you a great weekend.
Year 11 Message
It was great to see our Y11 students competing at Sports day on Tuesday and performing in the Winter concert last night.
Next week we have house assemblies. School will finish for the winter break at 12.15 pm on Friday and school buses will run at that time.
Year 11 MOCK exams are 13th to 24th January.
Over the winter break, we hope that students are preparing for their mock exams by doing regular active revision. Please help your child to find a balance between this, getting rest and sleep and eating and exercising to stay healthy. After the break, students will attend school as normal for the first week. They then start study/exam leave from 13th January through to the New Year break. During this time, they can choose to attend school to use our study facilities and must attend school to sit their exams. When at school, students must be in school uniform. Please check the mock exam timetable carefully. We will share the exam regulations after the break.
Year 11 FINAL exams are in May and June
These are still 5 months away so this is a heads up. Exam leave for students will start at 3.20 pm on Thursday 24th April. From that point, students can study at school if they wish and must attend for their exams. A detailed exam timetable with venues and times will be published when ready. An overview of dates for the final exams is available here.
Year 10 Message

KGV Careers & H.E. Team
It’s been an incredibly busy and fun-packed Term 1 for CAS Activities, with record numbers of student participation. Under the activities term blocking format, most Term 1 activities ended today, Friday 6th of December.
It has been great to see so many students embrace the opportunities on offer, see our creative arts groups perform and watch our sports teams compete. A few numbers in brief:
Parents and students will have received an App message this week explaining the timeline and process for Term 2. Students will be able to sign up for Term 2 activities from Monday 9th of December and this will remain open until Sunday 5th of January. During this time, students can enrol and withdraw from activities to plan their program. Following this, we will go through the allocation process and students/parents will be informed via App message if they have been successfully placed and if not allocated, they will remain on the waitlist and be notified when a space becomes available. If students have a problem managing their CAS activities, then please encourage them to come and speak to the CAS office or reach out here: cas.activities@kgv.edu.hk
Remember to check the KGV CAS Activities website for all things related to the activities program (https://www.kgvcasactivities.com/). For information about signing up, withdrawal, allocation, and parental approval, click here.
Finally, I would like to thank parents for your support in allowing students to take part in the CAS program. I would also welcome any feedback or suggestions you have to improve the CAS Program by identifying particular activities that you would like to see offered at KGV.
