Principal's Message
Dear KGV Families,
Throughout this week, our students have engaged in acts of kindness and gratitude. The simple act of saying thank you, showing appreciation to others or sharing a greeting make such a difference to someone's day. We have highlighted that by showing kindness to yourself and others, this lifts our wellbeing by promoting both physical and mental health.
If you have a few minutes, take a look at this link to see some of the activities that have been happening throughout Kindness Week, plus some educational resources that highlight the importance of kindness and gratitude to our wellbeing. A great conversation to have at home can be based around the question ‘How have you shown kindness and gratitude this week, and how did it make you feel?’
Through our values, we strive to foster kindness across our community. This may include taking the time to listen to someone else, encouraging people to persevere if they make mistakes, and valuing the diversity that exists within our community. We will continue to develop such approaches throughout everything we do at KGV.
Thank you for your ongoing support and have an enjoyable weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark Poulsum
Year 12 & 13 Message
We hope our Year 12 IB students enjoyed Core Week this week and we know many of our students have reported that they enjoyed the opportunity to get caught up with certain subjects and have begun to make progress with their Extended Essay and TOK Exhibition.
We wish our Year 12 IBCP and BTEC students continued success as they enter their second week of work experience next week.
Please see important reminders for our Year 13 Graduating Cohort from Ms Elaine Chan below.
Wishing you a great weekend.
Year 11 Message
Exam information pack.
Follow this link for all the information students need to be aware of for their final exams. It matches the conditions of the mock exams, so there will be no surprises.
The timings for exams this year are being finalised now and personalised exam timetables will be available soon. In the meantime, please use this overview of the exam dates.
Year 11 Formal
The Year 11 formal is coming up on 31st March. Just a reminder that this must not happen at the expense of classroom learning time. Students who are not in class on that day will not be allowed to attend the ball and their ticket cost will be refunded. Please do not entertain requests from your child to write doctor's visit notes or other reasons for leaving classes that day.
Challenge Week choices
Year 11 students made their Challenge Week choices this week. The system is open until next Tuesday if they change their minds. You will have received confirmation emails as they joined their chosen activities. We will finalise lists for all activities and send invoices for overseas trips very soon.
Year 10 Message
Challenge Week choices
Year 10 students made their Challenge Week choices this week. For the majority of students, this is a language immersion activity. Over the years we have seen these activities have direct benefits for their language studies. The system is open until next Tuesday if they change their minds. You will have received confirmation emails as they joined their chosen activities. We will finalise lists for all activities and send invoices for overseas trips very soon.
Study and revision habits
Please check in on the study and revision habits of your child. Getting into good habits and good routines at this stage of their Y10/11 course will have tremendous benefits. The study should be regular, in a distraction free environment and of short duration. Half-hour chunks for no more than two hours at a time will make it accessible and sustainable.
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
This week, KGV has had Kindness Week. It has been a lovely week watching Year 7 students engaging in the initiatives designed to help students demonstrate gratitude and kindness. There were many 'thank you' cards sent to staff and students.
Students are in the process of signing up for Challenge Week activities. Hopefully you have been able to speak to your child about the options available for them next year in Year 8. Your child will sign up for their Challenge Week activities on Tuesday 11th March.
Next week is Maths Week. Students will participate in Inter-House Maths Relays and can enter the Pi Baking Competition. Ms Streeter has put information in this bulletin for you to read in detail. Please note that Friday is Maths Dress-Up Day for Year 7s only. Please see the notice from Ms Streeter.
Have a lovely weekend.
The Year 7 Team
Year 8 & 9 Message
Challenge Week choices
Year 8 & 9 students made their Challenge Week choices this week. The choice, opportunities and shared experience make this a key opportunity to address our school vision, for students to find their passions, feel a sense of belonging, develop holistically and maybe even take a step towards being their own remarkable.
The system is open until next Tuesday 11th March if students have not managed to make their choices as yet or have changed their minds and would like to change their choice. You will receive confirmation emails as they joined their chosen activities. Finalised lists for all activities will be created soon and invoices will be sent out for overseas tripos.
Kindness Week
Throughout this week, our students have engaged in acts of kindness and gratitude with the finale of Kindness Week being a photo taken after the final activity.

Dear Parents,
To celebrate our 130th Anniversary, KGV and its PTSA warmly invite you to a Gala Dinner for our community. This unforgettable evening promises celebration, camaraderie, and philanthropy. Funds raised will be used to support student projects and development.
Please scan the QR code or click this link for more information and to sign up. If you’re interested in donating for our auction, participating in any volunteer performances or have any questions, please contact Kathy.ribeiro@kgv.edu.hk
Just a gentle reminder, no students or children are allowed.
Next week is Maths Week at KGV! Alongside the numerous competitions and events open to all yeargroups, we are delighted to hold two special events for Year 7s run in conjunction with KJS: the Maths Dress Up Day Competition and the Y6&7 Maths Kahoot, both which take place on Pi Day (Friday, March 14). The Maths Department would appreciate your support in ensuring your child understands and is prepared for these events as detailed below:
Maths Dress Up Day: Students wear their best mathematical attire rather than school uniform for the duration of Pi Day, excepting PE and Drama lessons where they will be expected in their usual kit. There are three prize categories: Best Dressed, Most Mathematical and Funniest/Punniest.
Year 6 & 7 Kahoot: Students will team up with KJS students to compete in a Maths Kahoot (a game somewhat akin to Pub Trivia). This will be held during periods 1 and 2 – students are to go straight to the Hall at the beginning of Period 1 for the event. Please note this means students do not need to bring their materials for lessons 1 and 2 that day.
Further details about these and other events can be found on the Maths Week page here, and we look forward to seeing your child’s most mathematical clothing creations!

KGV Careers & H.E. Team
The KGV Careers Office coordinates all our student references and grade summaries, including potential exit & summer programmes.
To protect our students’ privacy, parental permission is required before KGV can release any student information to external parties. KGV will only fulfil requests once we have received this permission.
To request a school reference or grade summary, parents are kindly asked to complete this form.
Students should not use their KGV account to log in to this form. This is to ensure that parental consent is obtained before we release any student information.
Students should reach out to teachers to invite them to be recommenders. It is beneficial for students to provide teachers with information about the programme for which they are applying, as this helps in preparing meaningful recommendations. Please be mindful of additional workloads on teachers when making these requests.
Typical lead time for teachers to prepare references is four working weeks.
School references for higher education applications are managed in a separate process.
If students are pursuing external extension programmes outside of KGV, they should read and follow the information on this website: https://sites.google.com/kgv.hk/kgv-extension-opportunities .
