Principal's Message
Dear KGV Families,
As we move towards the last month of the academic year, a key priority becomes ensuring we identify the strategic priorities and improvement plan that meets the needs of our students and the KGV community for 2025/26 and beyond.
An important part of this process is reflecting on the recent stakeholder survey feedback and using this information to inform our planning. From the student and parent perspectives, both strengths and opportunities for development have emerged.
The strengths include:
Clarity on the school’s vision, mission and values.
Children experiencing a high level of enjoyment at KGV.
Students making good progress at school, in an inclusive environment..
We pride ourselves on providing the best possible experience for each of our students, and it is wonderful to see so many positive reflections. However, it is equally important that we have the honesty to reflect on areas for development and the courage to work on these points. Key areas identified include:
Ensuring we know your child well so we can support their progress and development, from both an academic and socio-emotional perspective.
Empowering parents so they can support their child’s learning at home, as well as enabling students to take ownership of their learning.
Communicating, consulting and engaging with parents and students to inform ongoing improvements at KGV.
We have started engaging with the KGV Leadership Team, KGV Student Council, and will also involve the PTSA Committee in discussions next week. From these initial meetings, we will be aiming to identify emerging ideas that our improvement priorities and how we implement them for next academic year. Further information will follow in the coming weeks.
Have a great weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark
Year 12 & 13 Message
We held our KGV Memories of Mason service on Monday and would like to thank our Head Prefects for leading the event and also to all close friends of Mason who contributed with their own special memories and personal stories. We will work with our Year 12 Student Leaders and Mason’s family in the planning of a suitable memorial and dedication to Mason in due course.
We also hosted our Class of 2025 Graduation Ceremony in our KGV hall on Wednesday evening and are thoroughly looking forward to continuing the celebrations with our outgoing Year 13 students tonight at the Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel from 5.30pm.
Wishing you a great weekend.
Year 10 Message
Today Year 10 students welcomed the Year 9 students who will join their tutor groups next year.
There are a number of assessments scheduled for the next few weeks. Some stress is healthy, but if you notice your child being overly worried or anxious about assessments, please remind them these are practice only and are in place to encourage them to revise and to get feedback on how to improve. Remind them to keep doing the things they enjoy such as sport and time with friends, and to get enough sleep and exercise. Encourage them to speak to their tutor or Head of Year to get advice and guidance.
Year 11 Message

Year 8 & 9 Message
Honesty, Courage and Empathy
This morning, we welcomed the new Year 7 cohort for the upcoming academic year. It was a fantastic event that filled our school premises with about 600 parents and children exploring the campus to kick off the day. During her welcome address, Ms. Beer spoke passionately about the KGV vision: to be a school for one, where each student feels that the school was created just for them.
In this spirit, the Year 9 Tutors of KGV have been entrusted with the important task of identifying students in their groups who best embody the KGV school values of honesty, courage, and empathy. This responsibility made me reflect on how these values manifest in our students and contribute to our vibrant community.
KGV students are continually challenged to embody honesty, courage, and empathy—values that foster a strong sense of belonging. Honesty encourages us to be truthful in our interactions, building trust amongst peers and teachers. Courage empowers us to face challenges head-on, whether it’s speaking up for what is right or stepping outside our comfort zones, all while knowing we are supported by those around us. Meanwhile, empathy allows us to connect with others, understanding their feelings and perspectives, which deepens our collective sense of belonging.
Together, these values not only help us grow as individuals but also create a welcoming environment where every student feels known, heard, safe, and successful. As we look ahead, I can't help but wonder who will be awarded the great honour of being identified as representing these values next week.
The Year 9 Community Project Assessment and Exhibition & MYP Graduation Ceremony will take place on Monday 16th June.
We would like to invite all parents/Guardians from 3.30 pm - 5.30 pm for the Community project exhibition and MYP Graduation ceremony. If you are able to attend please register on the link below. Unregistered guests will not be permitted entry.
Registration for Community Project Exhibition and Graduation
All Year 9 parents will receive an email with the full schedule for the afternoon, so please keep an eye out for this.
Have a lovely weekend !
Year 7 Message
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We could not have been more proud of our Year 7 students today! They were incredible! Acting as KGV tour guides, they maturely and confidently escorted a new parent and a Year 6 student around the campus, sharing their experiences and welcoming them to our community. It was a real pleasure to watch our Year 7 students take this leadership role. Please ask them about this when you see them and pass on our appreciation and gratitude.
Last night we were treated to an exceptional evening of music in our KGV Summer Concert. The level of talent and commitment on the stage was super impressive. From the KGV Senior Choir to the Jazz Band, to the Senior Orchestra and Junior Choir, the students treated the audience to an evening of quality entertainment.
Your child spent tutor time today with the tutor they will have for Years 8 and 9. Please talk to them about this session and allow them time to reflect on what this change means to them and any questions they might have.
Have a great weekend.
The Year 7 Team
We are delighted to announce that KGV will be staging a contemporary adaptation of Animal Farm for its whole school play in November 2025. We are looking to create a morality tale for the 21st century through a mixture of physical theatre, life-sized puppets and masked performers, alongside a musical soundtrack and a specially commissioned and created animated background. We are taking our first point of inspiration from this trailer for a West End Production. Furthermore, we will be working with KGV alumni Sharon Cheng, who is a UK-based professional actor and puppeteer.
We are really excited by the whole venture and want to make it big, loud, brash, fast-paced, hard-hitting, with high production values.
Rehearsals will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school from mid-September (not during Challenge Week). There will also be rehearsals on Saturdays, 15th and 22nd November. Students must be able to attend all rehearsals to be considered for a role.
We are looking for 20 students from Year 7 and 8 to join the ensemble and to find a narrator for the whole show, as well as other significant roles
Auditions will take place on Wednesday, 5th and Thursday, 6th June, 1.35 pm in DS402.
For the audition, the students will need to prepare by choosing a farm animal and learning how to move like one. We don’t expect them to move on your hands and feet, but we want to see how they can capture the way the animal moves and behaves. We will also want to hear how the farm animal sounds. If the student would like to audition for the role of narrator as well, they will need to learn this passage and be prepared to perform it at the audition.
And the very next morning, the attack came. The animals awoke to find that the men had surrounded the windmill in the night. It was clear they intended to blow it up. Without waiting for any orders, the animals charged. They chased the men over the fields and off the farm.
Parents, it would be great if you could talk to your children if they are in Year 7 or 8 about what a great opportunity this is. Not only to be in the play, but also to work with other students from across the school.
Students who would like to audition should complete this quick Google Form, so we know which day to expect to see them at the auditions. You should wear your Drama kit
Thank you
The Drama Team
