Principal's Message
Dear KGV Families,
Over the last two weeks, one of our key focus areas has been transition. The Class of 2025 enjoyed the memories and celebrations that come with the Graduation Ceremony, whilst our future Year 7 cohort started their KGV journey as they joined us for transition day. As our Year 11 students move towards their final few exams they will be anticipating what lies ahead in their Senior School years, whilst Year 9 students will be looking forward to exhibiting their Community Projects as they reach the end of their MYP experience.
Across each of these milestones in their learning journeys, common features emerge. These include how each student aspires to be the best they can be, and how much they value the guidance from our teachers and the support of their families. In these moments it is not only the remarkable successes that stand out, but also the way our students achieve these outcomes. The courage to take risks in their learning, the honesty to reflect on mistakes, and the empathy to support each other in good times and challenging times.
It is these characteristics that make KGV students truly rise above as they strive to’ Be Their Own Remarkable' in their next stage of learning. We are committed to continuing to build on these experiences, and value the support that comes from our community.
Have an enjoyable weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark Poulsum
Year 12 & 13 Message
We have had another very important and momentous week in the Senior School. On behalf of the KGV Year 12 & 13 team, we would like to congratulate our Year 13 students on their exemplary behaviour shown throughout their final days. It has been an absolute pleasure to have been part of their celebrations, and we wish everyone continued success in the coming weeks.
Our Year 12 students are now the most senior students at KGV and as role-models to our younger students we ask for your continued cooperation and leadership in modelling our values around attendance, punctuality, uniform and our phone-free campus.
Wishing you a great weekend.
Year 10 Message
Year 10 students continue to have a number of assessments over the next few weeks.
Please remind them that these assessments are to motivate them to revise their learning, to practise and to get feedback to help them understand where they are meeting requirements and where they need to focus.
We want students to take the assessments seriously, but not to be anxious or feel undue stress.
Year 11 Message
GCSE exams continue next week with the following:
Good luck to all of our students as the exam season continues. Exam information is below.
All exam instructions and reference materials are available here.
Please see previous newsletters for information about collecting results.
The Year 7 Message
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
This week, we need to bring to your attention some issues we have been working through with Year 7 students and their use of school devices.
Unfortunately, recently we have observed instances of students sharing and downloading unauthorised software, games, and copyrighted files on their school devices, at times using the school's Google domain for distribution.
We wish to re-emphasise to students that such activities contravene both our school's policies and intellectual/copyright laws. Engaging in the unauthorised distribution or acquisition of copyrighted material is illegal. Even distributing "free" software can be against the terms and conditions of sites.
We kindly request your cooperation in reinforcing the following messages that we will be delivering to students:
If you could speak to your child this weekend about their use of the school laptop, we would appreciate it. Let us know if you have questions or clarifications on any of the information above. We will contact parents directly as we will be continuing our conversations with specific students.
As always, we will use our home-school partnership to ensure your child, our student, is getting the best possible all-around care and support.
Have a great weekend.
The Year 7 Team
Year 8 & 9 Message
As we enter the final three weeks of the school year it is natural for students to feel fatigued, which can sometimes lead to short tempers and thoughtless behaviour towards one another. We encourage all students to be mindful of their interactions, to practice patience, and to look out for each other. By fostering a supportive and caring environment, we can work together to end the year on a positive note. Your support in reinforcing these values at home is greatly appreciated as we strive to create a harmonious school community. Thank you for your partnership!
Year 9
Today, during periods 1 to 4, we held Reflection Day, where students focused on understanding the assessment criteria, identifying evidence of their work, and structuring their presentations effectively all while learning about ensuring academic honesty. Next week students will continue their preparation and practice, reflecting on the actions they have taken and finalising their presentation plans. They will also have the opportunity to check in with their supervisors for guidance. We are excited to see their hard work culminate in their graduation presentations next week!
The Year 9 Community Project Assessment and Exhibition & MYP Graduation Ceremony will take place on Monday 16th June.
We would like to invite all parents/Guardians from 3.30 pm - 5.30 pm for the Community project exhibition and MYP Graduation ceremony. If you are able to attend please register on the link below. Registration will close at 9am on Wednesday 11th June. Unregistered guests will not be permitted entry.

KGV Careers & H.E. Team
The KGV Careers Office coordinates all our student references and grade summaries, including potential exit & summer programmes.
School references for higher education application process for Year 12 and Year 13 are handled in a different process. There is no need to make a separate request. Instead, students should be working closely with their H.E. Counsellors so that we can support their applications appropriately.
To protect our students’ privacy, parental permission is required before KGV can release any student information to external parties. KGV will only fulfil requests once we have received this permission.
Parents need to submit a request for school reference or grade summary via this Google form.
References for Non-higher education purposes
Our normal lead time for teachers to work on references is four working weeks.
Requests for school references received by 6pm on 23 May should be fulfilled before the end of the school year.
Requests received after this deadline will be processed, but we cannot guarantee completion before the summer break. Such requests are expected to be fulfilled upon the school's resumption in August.
Grade Summary
Parents should use their parent Lionel login to access semester summaries on their child's CCF page. Requests for grade summary will be processed in July, after the release of the 2024-25 Semester 2 summaries.
External Extension Programmes
If students are pursuing external extension programmes outside of KGV, they should read and follow the information on this website.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
