Principal's Message
Dear KGV Families,
I hope you have enjoyed a good week. One of the many aspects that make KGV students stand out is their leadership. The role of Head Prefects, Heads of Student Council and House Captains are part of our heritage, and also reflect the drive and ambition of our student community. They do extraordinary work in capturing and representing the student voice, developing opportunities for improvement and being ambassadors for the wider community.
Over the last two weeks, we have been holding interviews to select our new student leadership team for 2026. Following a highly competitive process that reflects the depth of talent within our student community, I am delighted to announce Ika Tang and Heer Donda as our new Head Prefects. They will be joined by Yerin Kang and Shivansh Naik who will be the Heads of Student Council. I am sure they will build on the outstanding work of the current leadership team of Dharuka, Maya, Kashish and Riya, and I look forward to working with them over the next year.
There are so many exciting events happening over the next few weeks, and plenty of opportunities for our parent and student communities to get involved. These events start with the school play, Animal Farm, which runs from Wednesday 26th November to Friday 28th November. This is sure to be another spectacular production and tickets are still available through this link. We hope you can join us for this special occasion.
Thank you for your ongoing support and have a good weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark

Year 11 Mock exams
Year 11 students will have mock exams from 12th to 23rd January. They will have study leave for this time and will only attend to sit their mock exams. We are working on the schedule and will share it soon. To prepare students, we try to make the mock exams feel like the final exams. We also need to squeeze them into a two-week period so that learning is not overly disrupted. Students will be briefed on exam procedures and rules in the first week after the winter break.
Next term, our field is being resurfaced, so we need to practice new fire drill procedures with Year 10 and 11 students on Monday.
We hope our Year 10 families were able to meet with teachers today to learn about the progress and challenges for their child. Year 11 Learning reviews are scheduled to follow the mock exams.
On Monday, we will switch lunch time and period 4 around so we finish (and school buses will arrive) at 1.25 pm to accommodate the Learning Reviews.
Wednesday 26th to 28th November - Animal Farm School Play - A great opportunity to see what is sure to be an outstanding production and showcase for our talented students and staff. Buy your tickets here.
Dear Parents,
We have been notified by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) that there is a confirmed outbreak of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) within the Year 9 group. We are working closely with the CHP and have stepped up all hygiene and cleaning measures to contain the spread.
Hand foot Mouth disease mainly spreads by contact with an infected person’s nose or throat discharges, saliva, fluid from vesicles or stool, or after touching contaminated objects. The disease is most contagious during the first week of the illness and the viruses can be found in stool for weeks.
Common symptoms and early signs of HFMD include:
What we kindly request from all Year 9 parents:
Your cooperation is essential in protecting the health of the entire school community. KGV continues deep cleaning and sanitization of high contact surfaces throughout the school. Please be assured we will continue to follow CHP guidelines and expectations regarding these cleaning protocols. By monitoring your child closely and keeping them home at the first sign of illness, we can stop the outbreak from spreading further.
Should you have any questions, please contact the school nurse directly.
Thank you very much for your understanding and support.

Bookings for the Learning Review this Monday (4th Nov) will close temporarily on Sunday morning and reopen on Monday night to enable booking for the final Learning Review on Tuesday, December 2nd. These reviews are focussed on students in Y 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12. Learning Reviews for Year 11 and 13 students will follow the mock exams next term.
Classes are not affected on Monday, but we will move lunch break so that students can catch buses home at 1.25 pm.
Classes will not run on Tuesday, 2nd December, and students should not come to school unless they have been specifically invited by a staff member. Students will be set work to complete during the day when they are not involved in meetings.
Learning Review meetings take place via Google Meet. Use the "Email me a list..." link at the top of the booking system to get an email with all your appointments and the Google Meet link for each teacher.
Full guidance for the booking and meeting process is available here

According to Health Protection (CHP), the local seasonal influenza continued to increase recently. As a community, we must heighten vigilance and take appropriate personal protection measures against influenza and other respiratory infections.
To prevent the spread of illness, we kindly ask the parents to keep their child at home for treatment and observation if they have any of these symptoms:
• Fever (tympanic temperature is higher than 37.5°C )
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Frequent congested or croupy cough
• Very stuffy or runny nose with yellowish or greenish discharge
• Pink eye with abnormal secretion
It is of utmost importance that children with fever, regardless of the presence of respiratory symptoms, are not allowed to attend school. This measure is critical in preventing outbreaks of influenza and other respiratory infections. ESF fever policy states a student must be fever free for 48 hours before returning to school. When a student no longer has any fever (without the help of medicine), you can begin to count 48 hours (two complete days). When this 48 hour is up, your child can return to school.
Students should maintain personal hygiene to prevent the spread of infectious diseases:
KGV continue deep cleaning and sanitization of high contact surfaces throughout the school. We will continue to monitor our school's sickness level closely and liaise with the CHP if necessary.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the school nurses. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation in keeping our school community safe.
