Principal's Message
Dear KGV Families,
Over the past week we have felt a strong sense of togetherness and community as ‘We Stand With Tai Po.’ The response of our students, parents and staff reflects how our thoughts remain with those affected by the tragedy. The KGV Charity Committee and PTSA have been at the forefront of our fundraising efforts, and our end of term activities will continue to focus on raising money to support those impacted by the fire. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to these fundraising efforts.
I also recognise this has been a long term, and many students are likely to be feeling tired and ready for a break. We will continue to work to ensure students maintain healthy routines and a focus on their learning, whilst also providing opportunities for them to come together as a community and reflect on the term.
Please be reminded that Monday is a school holiday due to the Hong Kong elections. KGV will be closed on Monday. We also finish at 12 pm on Friday 12th December, the last day of term.
Thank you for your continued support and have a good weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark Poulsum

Year 12 & 13 Message
We are incredibly proud of the whole school community for participating in our ‘We Stand With Tai Po’ fundraising day today. The level of support, demonstrated through our dress-down day, the sale of black ribbons, and the heartfelt messages written for the Tai Po community, truly showcases the compassion and unity of KGV. Your generosity will go a long way in supporting the families affected by the recent tragedy.
As we round the corner into the last week of this long term, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank our entire school community—staff, students, and you, our parents.
It has been a lengthy and rewarding term, and I know that feelings of fatigue are natural for us all at this stage. In school, we are taking steps to ensure our classrooms remain calm, focused, and productive environments. We are maintaining our expected routines and keeping all students engaged with meaningful tasks right up to the final day.
We ask for your partnership this week to help reinforce this focus at home. Consistency is the key to counteracting fatigue. Please help your child by maintaining established morning, after-school, and bedtime routines. A well-rested and prepared student is a focused student.
Thank you, once again, for your continued support in helping our students remain focused, engaged, and ready to finish this term strongly.
Have a lovely weekend.

Year 7, 8 & 9 Message

Our shared goal is to support them in having the best possible finish to the term.

Year 10 & 11 Message
Today, we participated in a range of activities around ‘We Stand With Tai Po’. Students donated money, wore black ribbons and dressed appropriately to show support. It was the third day of Mini-enterprise. The quad is crowded with stalls, and students are supporting the Red Cross with every purchase made. Our Year 10 Business and Economics students have worked hard to create this event and are learning so much about sourcing, pricing, promotion and sales through this experience. There was a real feeling of community within the school.
We recognise it has been a long term and students are tired. Please focus on maintaining routines as much as possible for the last week of term to help us all get safely to next Friday. These are things like homework checks, regular revision, regular wake-up times and checking uniforms in the morning.
Make sure your child does not come to school on Monday. The EDB has mandated that schools be closed that day.
Next week is the school cross-country for each year level. Friday, we will finish at 12 pm, and we hope students are able to enjoy some rest and family time over the next 3 weeks.
Year 11 students should use this tme to do some regular revision in preparation for their mock exams.
Year 11 exam information
Mock exams will be from Monday, January 12, to Friday, January 23. Students may have more than one exam on some days. Students will be on study leave during this time. They only need to attend school for their exams, but can choose to come every day to use our study facilities. Mock exams are internal and provide useful feedback for students. We treat these exams the same way as the finals so that students get used to the procedures, but they are practice exams only. We want students to take them seriously and prepare well in order to test themselves, but they should not be a cause for anxiety or stress. Please keep a close eye on your child and help them maintain a healthy perspective on these exams if necessary.
Year 11 Final exams begin in late April. You can see the dates for all exams on this spreadsheet. The final day of timetabled lessons for Year 11 will be Wednesday 22nd April. From that point on, students are on study leave. They can revise and prepare at home or at school.

Dear Parents,
If your child has ordered a 2026 Graduation Hoodie or Varsity Jacket, please pay on your ESF Parent's App by this Sunday, 7 December 2025. Unpaid orders will not be processed.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Term 2 CAS Activity Program
Dear Parents & Students,
It has been an incredibly busy and fun-packed Term 1 for CAS Activities. Under our activities term blocking format, most Term 1 activities will conclude this Friday, 5th December, though a select few sports, performing arts groups, and other specific activities will continue beyond this date due to the pressures of their season, fixed performance dates, and external factors.
Important Dates:
A reminder: Registration is not on a first-come, first-served basis. All students registered will be placed on the waiting list until the end of the registration period. If the number of enrolments exceeds the maximum number of participants, names will be drawn randomly by Lionel to allocate only those that have been pre-approved by parents to join the activity. Check the KGV CAS Activities website for all things related to the activities program (KGV CAS Website). Information about how to sign up, withdrawal, allocation and parental approval can be found here.
Please note: Due to the upcoming pitch closure across Terms 2 and 3, the CAS program has had to make adjustments. This means that some development programs will not run during these terms, and training for certain sports may have to take place off-site. Students impacted by these necessary changes will be notified directly, and all relevant information will be shared with them and also made available on Lionel.
Finally, I would like to thank you, parents, for your support in allowing students to participate in the CAS program. I would also welcome any feedback or suggestions you have to improve the CAS Program by identifying particular activities that you would like to see offered at KGV.
Thank you
The CAS Team
