Principal's Message
Dear KGV Families,
One of the highlights of this term is seeing the Year 6 students visit KGV for a ‘Taster Day’ as they start the transition process getting ready to join us in August. Tuesday was full of smiles and positivity as they explored KGV and got to know some of our staff. These events also show the KGV student leaders at their best. The kindness, care and support they offered throughout the day was truly remarkable and reflects who we are. The strong sense of belonging, high levels of engagement and ensuring each child is cared for are key attributes of our student community. We look forward to welcoming the Year 6 students back in May.
Throughout this week, I have also been speaking to a range of Year 13 students as they start to receive their feedback from the mock exams. These conversations demonstrated the drive, purpose and energy of our Year 13 students as they reflect on their progress and consider their next steps for improvement. Each one of them highlighted their appreciation of the support they are being given, and they are hungry for feedback. These are attributes that create the foundations for success. I would encourage all KGV students to adopt these approaches so they become reflective learners who can clearly articulate their next steps of learning, and are hungry for feedback.
Thank you for your ongoing support and have a wonderful weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark Poulsum

Year 12 & 13 Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we move into the second half of the term, we have several important updates regarding student progress, upcoming reports, and our next round of Learning Reviews.
Year 13: Mock Results and Next Steps
The Mock Exam period is a vital milestone in the journey towards final examinations. Teachers are currently finalising a rigorous marking and moderation process to ensure consistency and accuracy across all subjects.
We aim to publish a summary of all mock grades and detailed feedback via the ESF App by Friday 6th Februay. It is essential to remember that mock grades are a diagnostic tool, not a final destination. These results should be utilised to:
Identify Gaps: Encourage your child to look beyond the letter grade and focus on specific feedback regarding exam technique, time management, and subject-specific knowledge gaps.
Refine Revision: These results should dictate the focus of study schedules over the coming weeks—prioritising topics that proved challenging rather than those they already find comfortable.
Strategic Reflection: It is an ideal time for students to reflect on their preparation habits. This is the moment to decide what worked and what needs to change before the final summer series.
Maintain Perspective: A disappointing mock result is an opportunity to pivot and improve, while a strong result is a prompt to maintain momentum without becoming complacent.
Year 13 Learning Reviews
To discuss these results and strategies for the final stretch, we will be holding Learning Reviews on the following dates:
Monday 9th February: 2.30 pm – 6.00 pm
Monday 23rd February: 2.30 pm – 6.00 pm
Booking Information: The booking system is now open through the ESF App.
Year 12: Semester 1 Grade Reports
For our Year 12 students, the transition into senior secondary life is now well-established. Semester 1 Grade Reports are being finalised next week.
Reports will be published by Friday 6th February. These reports provide a comprehensive overview of your child’s engagement and attainment across their subjects. We recommend using this as a springboard for conversation regarding their chosen pathways and any adjustments needed for Semester 2.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our students during this intensive academic period.
Best regards,
