Principal's Message
Dear KGV Families,
I hope your week has been an enjoyable one. Throughout this week it has been good to see the Y12 IBDP students fully immersed in their core week. The opportunity to focus on the core elements of the IBDP is key for the students, as well as being able to actively work on targets set by their teachers through our ‘Response to Intervention’ model. Alongside this, our Y12 BTEC and IBCP students have been enjoying their first week of voluntary placements that are designed to strengthen their vocational skills.
Fostering the Home-School partnership is also key to each child’s success. It was great to see a number of our Y12 parents join us in an online workshop that focused on a range of factors that would enable parents to support their child at home, ask questions and give feedback on their child’s experience so far, as well as seek clarifications on key milestones as their child progresses towards university.
Our parent workshop series continues on Tuesday, with a focus on ‘Understanding Youth Risks.’ Please see the app message from Michelle Tsang for further details.
Next week we also start our November 2026 Challenge Week sign up. This provides a wonderful chance for your child to try something new, whether it is focused on creativity, activity or service. Please discuss options with your child ahead of the sign up as this will help them to focus their decisions.
Thank you for your continued support and have an enjoyable weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark

KGV Values: Use of Language
We are asking parents to join us in reinforcing efforts to address the use of harmful language between students. We wish to bring particular attention to language that is prejudiced or discriminatory; such language has no place in our learning community.
Students have had this message reinforced in recent assemblies and are also engaging in explicit lessons addressing prejudice and discrimination within the THRIVE programme. While our primary role is to support and educate, please be aware that consequences for using such language will be applied in line with our responsibility to safeguard and protect all members of our school community. Should parents have any concerns, they are encouraged to contact their child's Head of Year. We are grateful for your continued support in this matter.
Challenge Week 2026-2027
Sign-ups for the 2026-2027 Challenge Week (taking place 2-6 November) will occur this coming week. Choices are currently available for review at the following link: https://sites.google.com/a/kgv.hk/cw/introduction-news
We encourage you to look through these options and review them with your child. Students will also be discussing these choices during tutor time. Sign-ups will take place on the following dates:
Year 9: Tuesday, 10 March
Year 8: Wednesday, 11 March
Year 7: Thursday, 12 March
Uniform Expectations
Thank you for your partnership in supporting our students to meet uniform expectations. Please review the current guidelines here: https://kgv.esf.edu.hk/parent/schoollife/uniform/
Students with persistent concerns regarding uniform will have follow-up from tutors and Heads of Year to address this. We thank parents in advance for their cooperation in ensuring our high standards are maintained.
Thank you for your continued support of the school community.

The Year 11 Challenge Week signup happened during tutor time today. Some activities filled up fast, and not every student was able to get their first choice.
The Year 10 Challenge Week signup is on Monday. Please make sure your child has uploaded their travel document to Lionel if they will travel outside Hong Kong and that they have a second choice in mind.
The Book Fair will be happening throughout next week, with different activities and events for our students to enjoy. Thank you to Ms Bacani and the LRC team for putting this together.
Next week is also Maths Week - With Pi Day happening on the 3rd month and 14th day. There will be Maths competitions and a bake-off during the week. It is always a highly engaging and exciting week for our mathematicians.
Y11 HE Guidance counsellor meetings are ongoing to help our Y11 students finalise their course choices for senior school. Y11 have their final English mock exam on Monday period 2.
Payment requests for the Y11 formal will be sent out next week. We have an unprecedented 212 students signed up so far.
Our Y10/11 assembly next week will celebrate student achievements but also share a dilemma with our students that we need them to think very carefully about. The Hong Kong government has legislation about the use of vaping devices in designated smoke-free environments. The consequences of breaching these regulations are serious and we need our students to be well aware and thoughtful about the decisions they make.
