Principal's Message
Dear KGV Families,
I hope this email finds you well. It has been an action packed week at KGV with a number of exciting events. Our Book Fair in the Learning Resource Centre gave students the opportunity to look for something new to read and was well attended by so many passionate readers. We continue to advocate for students to read for leisure for at least 20 minutes per day. This is key to both literacy and wellbeing. We would also encourage families to find some time to read together, and this becomes even better if you read the same book. A great opportunity for some family conversations.
Alongside the Book Week, all KGV students enjoyed participating in Mathematics Week, whether it was the Maths relay competition, a treasure hunt with KJS students or Pi Day activities. It is clear we have so many passionate mathematicians at KGV, with our team continuing to foster this culture of learning.
Both of these activities highlighted the importance of effective habits and routines. Twenty minutes of reading and 20 minutes of practising Maths every day will be so powerful in building these healthy habits.
Thank you to the parents who have completed the ESF Stakeholder Survey. Please note the deadline for completing this has been extended by a week. If you haven’t done so already, I would be grateful if you could take 10 minutes to complete the survey. The link has been emailed to you earlier this week. Your feedback is important to us and will be used to help identify our priorities as we move forward.
Thank you for your ongoing support and have a lovely weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark Poulsum

During the week, Year 11 students signed up for their final Challenge Week and Year 10 students signed up for Language immersion and other personalised activities.
In assembly this week, we shared a sobering message with all students, ensuring they are aware of government regulations around alternative smoking products (vapes), that these are unacceptable within school and our encouragement to keep themselves safe.
This week was Maths week with relay competitions, quizzes and more. The LRC hosted our annual book fair, promoting reading with a very wide variety of books on sale.
Students joined us from Sha Tin College and West Island School for Freedom Day, with over 100 students participating in the sweatshop challenge. This was filmed by CNN, and may air in April.
We are working on the detailed exam schedule for Year 11 and we hope to publish that next week. In the meantime. this calendar shows the days and sessions for each exam
There are Interhouse Music rehearsals at school this weekend and next week is full of music as IHM 2026 kicks off.
We are also celebrating Neurodiversity Week next week where we aim to build knowledge and awareness.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
A number of exciting events that showcase the vibrancy and diversity of our school community took place this week.
We are now entering a pivotal window for our Year 13 students. With the finish line just weeks away, we are reinforcing the vital importance of "being in the room". This final stretch of guided classroom learning is the best time for students to engage with their teachers, capture "insider" exam tips, and clarify any small misunderstandings before they become exam errors. We hope our students are making the absolute most of this expert support now so they can work effectively and independently during the upcoming two-week Easter break.
Our Learning Resource Centre was a hub of activity this week as we celebrated Book Week. The Book Fair was a wonderful success, and it was heartening to see so many of our passionate readers exploring new titles and sharing their recommendations.
Parallel to our literary celebrations, the campus has been buzzing with the energy of Mathematics Week. From the high-stakes excitement of the Maths relay competitions to the collaborative fun of treasure hunts with our friends from KJS, our students have truly embraced the subject.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support in making KGV such a remarkable place for our students to learn and grow.
Have a lovely weekend.

Challenge Week
Students in Years 7 - 11 signed up for Challenge Week this week. CW will run at the start of November.
Over the next few weeks we will send invoices for deposits for all overseas trips and any local activity with a cost of over $3000. This helps us make and hold bookings and, in some cases, purchase materials.
Please make sure you and your child are aware which activity they have signed up for. All information can be found on the Challenge Week website here.

Dear Parents and Caretakers,
In celebration of International Women’s Day, we warmly invite you to a Women’s Empowerment Workshop at KGV on 19 March 2026 at 4 PM.
Join us as Alia Eyres, former CEO of Mother’s Choice, shares her inspiring career story. This will be followed by a fireside chat with teachers and parents, moderated by Saloni Melwani (PTSA).
Jointly organized by the PTSA, students, and staff, we hope this event will provide valuable and inspiring insights for young people.
