Principal's Message
Dear KGV Families,
This week has been one full of creativity, celebration and communication engagement. The IBDP and BTEC Art and Design Show was another showcase for our incredibly talented artists. It was wonderful to see our students, staff and parents enjoying the show and exploring the wide range of art works, each showing a high level of skill, creativity and personalisation. These remarkable outcomes were enabled by the professionalism and dedication of our Art and Design teachers and technicians, and I would like to share my appreciation to everyone involved.
With the celebratory performance on Friday afternoon, we are also at the culmination of the Interhouse Music extravaganza. Over the past two weeks, there have been so many opportunities for our musicians to perform, each one drawing a big audience that reflects how immersed our students are in KGV’s house spirit. The dedication of our Music department creates these opportunities, and these events have certainly created a vibrancy across the school.
Please be reminded that students will return to school on Tuesday 14th April as Monday 13th is a Professional Development day for KGV staff. When students return to school we will revert to summer uniforms. This means they will not need to wear a tie.
I wish everyone a happy and restful Spring Break, and we look forward to welcoming the students back on Tuesday 14th April.
Best regards,
Mark Poulsum
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we begin the Easter break, we reflect on an intensive and inspiring term for our senior students. While a well-deserved rest awaits, the "finish line" is fast approaching.
Year 13: Final Days & Graduation Arrangements Following the Staff Collaborative Day on Monday 13th April, the final two days for Year 13 are as follows:
Tuesday 14th April: Last day of registered lessons. Students may wear non-uniform themed around "Future Careers."
Wednesday 15th April: Celebration Day (No lessons), 7 am arrival; L1 Breakfast served by SLT; L2 Chalking the Quad and Walk of Honour; L3 Year 13 Assembly. Dismissal is at 12 pm. (BTEC lessons are cancelled unless students are specifically notified).
Study leave officially begins on Thursday, 16th April. During this time, teachers remain available in their usual classrooms during scheduled lesson slots for last-minute guidance. Students should email teachers in advance if they plan to attend a session so staff can prepare accordingly.
Essential Reminders
Exams: Detailed logistics and equipment requirements have been shared with students via the school bulletin. Please encourage them to review this during the break.
Year 12: Though exams are further off, work from this term is vital for university predicted grades. We are proud of their recent leadership development focused on our "Known, Heard, Safe, and Successful" values.
We hope our students find a healthy balance over the next two weeks—prioritising quality time and rest alongside strategic revision. Thank you for your continued partnership.
Wishing you and your family a restful Easter break.
We hope all our families can get some quality time together over the break. A reminder that there are no lessons on Monday 13th April, as we use the day for professional development.
For Year 10 students over the break, we recommend they keep up regular revision, but focus on rest, sleep and staying healthy. For Year 11, the exams are quite close now and revision should be taken seriously alongside diet, exercise and sleep.
All Year 11 students received an exam support pack provided by the PTSA. This consisted of a hard-copy of their personal exam timetable, alongside a drinks voucer for Leos cafe, a water bottle and new exam regulation pencil case.
.The Year 11 Formal - will be held in the hall on evening of Monday 13th April from 6 pm to 9 pm.
The last day of lessons for Year 11 is Wednesday 22nd April. After that, they will be on study leave. Timetabled classes cease and students can choose to study at home or in the LRC at school. Subject teachers will continue to be available at the times classes would have taken place and students can meet with them so long as they contact them ahead of time.
A full and detailed examination timetable is available here. Please do not print this off; there may be small changes in the lead-up to exams.
Access the GCSE Examination booklet that covers all procedures and information for the exam season.
It’s been another busy term for CAS Activities, with more students than ever participating.
It has been great to see so many students embrace the opportunities on offer, to see our creative arts groups perform, and to watch our sports teams compete. A few numbers in brief covering the year to date:
Parents and students will have received an App message recently explaining the timeline and process for Term 3. Students can sign up for Term 3 activities from Monday, 23 March, and the sign-up will remain open until Sunday, 12 April. During this time, students can enrol and withdraw from activities to plan their program. Following this, we will go through the allocation process. Students/parents will be informed via App message if they have been successfully placed; if not, they will remain on the waitlist and be notified when a space becomes available. Term 3 activities will commence from Monday, 20 April.
For all things related to the activities program, check the KGV CAS Activities website (KGV CAS Website). Information on how to sign up, withdraw, allocate, and obtain parental approval can be found here.
Note: Due to the pitch closure across Terms 2 and 3, the CAS program has had to make adjustments. This means that some development programs will not run during these terms, and training for certain sports may have to take place off-site. Students impacted by these necessary changes will be notified directly, and all relevant information will be shared with them and also made available on Lionel.
