Principal's Message
Dear KGV Families,
Throughout this academic year, we have been focused on how we can observe the impact of our teaching approaches and create opportunities for our educators to share their practices.
Recently we hosted over 30 educational leaders from Hong Kong, Canada and New Zealand who visited a variety of our MYP lessons across a range of subjects. Through our collaborative approach, we asked our guests to focus on how we are personalising learning so each student can be ‘Known, Heard, Safe and Successful.’
It was wonderful to hear such positive reflections from our visitors as they commented on the high level of engagement prompted by teachers, the strong sense of belonging and aspirations of the students, as well as the welcoming environment that is evident at KGV.
Opening our classrooms to other educators is part of our commitment to continuous improvement as we look to build on our successes, as well as identifying questions and opportunities for further development. It also reflects the confidence and pride of our teachers as they enable people to visit their classrooms..
By continuing to reflect on our practices and develop and invite feedback, we ensure KGV is a vibrant and highly aspirational learning community where we students can Be Their Own Remarkable.
I hope you and your family enjoy a refreshing and relaxing long weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark Poulsum

Year 10 & 11 Message
We hope everyone enjoys the public holiday tomorrow and has a restful three-day weekend.
Year 10 students are engaging in 1:1 conversations with their tutors. This is our process for making sure every student is known and heard, and we are able to support them in their growth and learning.
There have been space restrictions this week. We miss our field, and we have unavoidably had some GCSE and IBDP exams running over lunch breaks, meaning we need to cordon off areas of the school to provide a quiet environment. We are really missing our field. There is nowhere to kick a ball and run off some of that extra energy. The contractors are making progress, and we hope to have it back for the start of next term.
Year 11 students continue on study leave.
The detailed exam timetable is available here.
All exam regulations are here.
In the event of severe rain or weather, e.g. Red or Black rain, advise your child to monitor their email. We will communicate any changes to the routine asap.
Students have been very good at getting to exams on time so far. Please continue to help your child get organised with their equipment and calendar so they are at school at least 20 minutes before each exam with all the correct equipment.
Students are sitting their Art practical today.
Exams next week are:

Years 7 | 8 | 9
Dear Families,
Please see updates below regarding our uniform policy review, Year 9 Ocean park trip, and reminders for supporting our senior students in exams. We wish all our families a restful long weekend.
Uniform Policy Review and Survey
The school has launched a comprehensive review of the KGV Dress Code and Uniform Policy. Staff, students, and parents are currently being surveyed to inform this process and ensure our policy reflects the needs of our community.
We encourage all students to complete their survey during tutor time. We also invite parents to add their voice by submitting the parent survey once it is received. Your feedback is essential in shaping the future of our school uniform.
Exam Season: Supporting Our Senior Students
The Year 11 and Year 13 final examinations are now in full swing. This significantly impacts the use of campus space, as many areas are designated as formal exam venues.
We ask for your continued support in reminding our younger students to show empathy toward their senior peers. It is essential to remain quiet when passing near exam venues and to respect the restricted zones marked across campus. This collective effort ensures our senior students can perform their best in a calm and supportive environment.
Year 9 Ocean Park Trip Update
We have now submitted our ticket requests to Ocean Park for the Year 9 trip. Please take note of the following updates regarding the schedule:
Preferred Date: Tuesday, 23rd June (Adjusted to accommodate the return of our Limitless students).
Second Choice: Monday, 22nd June.
If the move to Tuesday, 23rd June, presents a conflict for any student, please email Mr. Tranter (ashley.tranter@kgv.edu.hk) as soon as possible.
If you have not yet returned your reply slip, please do so immediately. Once our final numbers are confirmed with Ocean Park, we will be unable to make further changes to the booking.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

Year 12 & 13 Message
Dear Parents and Guardians
Please be reminded that school will be closed tomorrow for the Public Holiday. I hope you are all able to enjoy the long weekend.
Weather Preparedness
With the weather in Hong Kong beginning to change, we ask that students remain vigilant. In the event of severe weather, such as Red or Black rain warnings, please advise your child to monitor their school email closely. We will communicate any necessary changes to the school routine as quickly as possible.
IBCP Exhibition: "Our Home Through Our Eyes"
We are incredibly excited to invite you to a unique street photography exhibition featuring the work of IBCP students from across seven ESF schools, including our own talented photographers from KGV. From neon-lit streets to quiet corners, our students have captured the diverse people and places that define their Hong Kong. The exhibition is this Wednesday, 6 May, from 5–7 pm at Wyndham Social (check your email for details)
We Value Your Voice: Uniform Review Survey
We are currently reviewing the KGV Dress Code and Uniform Policy to ensure it continues to meet student needs for comfort and practicality while maintaining our cherished school identity.
Parents and guardians recently received an email with a link to our Uniform Survey. Your feedback is essential for informing our upcoming uniform shop tender. If you have not yet done so, please check your email or complete the Parent Google Form to share your views on quality, cost, and fit.
Thank you for your continued partnership.
