Principal's Message
Dear KGV Families,
I hope you have enjoyed a good week. One of the highlights for me this week was the exceptional summer concert on Tuesday. This incredible showcase of our talented musicians certainly brought joy and inspiration to the audience, and was a testimony to the dedication and expertise of our music team. We are proud of the world class standard of music performance at KGV, and we look forward to many more events in the future.
We are also on the cusp of our Year 9 students celebrating their graduation from the MYP. This will be an opportunity for students and their parents to reflect on how they have developed their knowledge, understanding and skills across eight academic discipline areas. With students presenting the outcomes from their Community Project, the event will also showcase the values of the MYP that are so closely aligned to what KGV stands for. The need to solve problems, take action and empathise with others is so important. This is a key milestone in their learning journey towards being their own remarkable, and provides the foundation for future success in IGCSE and beyond. I look forward to seeing the proud parents who will join us for this special event.
As we reach the last two weeks of the academic year, this is where students often feel a sense of fatigue and excitement. Fatigue after a long term where students have dedicated themselves to their studies, and excitement for the summer ahead. We will be encouraging students to uphold their high standards by keeping focused in lessons, engaging in their learning and maintaining healthy routines. A helpful conversation at home could be relating to how your child is feeling, and what they need to do to ensure a successful end of the academic year.
Lastly, a quick reminder that Friday 19th June is a public holiday. Also, 26th June is the last day of the academic year and school will finish at 12pm. School buses will leave the site at 12.15pm. We will share further details about the start of next academic year soon.
I hope you and your family have an enjoyable weekend ahead.
Best regards,
Mark Poulsum
Year 10 students enjoyed a session with the Senior School (Year 12/13) Curriculum Coordinator Mr Wightman today. This was an introduction to the options process they will go through next year as they explore and make decisions about senior school courses. Year 10 students will be receiving grades and feedback from end of term assessments. Please discuss this with your child and help them see it as information they can use to focus their attention and efforts as they progress through their course. In Year 11 they will have mock examinations in January so they can experience multiple exams in conditions similar to their finals. Again these exams will provide useful feedback and while they should work towards being prepared for these mocks, they are another opportunity for feedback to help them stay on course.
In the final two weeks of school, it is natural for students to begin to feel tired. Please help them finish the year strongly, being punctual to class keeping up revision and being patient and kind with each other.
Year 11 students will see the end of exams next week. We've had a few late nights this week, but students have been in good spirits and have been supporting each other.
Next week we have our last exam on Monday: Physics (triple) and Physics (Single)
Students will be emailed links and login details to retrieve their exam results from Cambridge and Edexcel. AQA results (DT and Food Tech) will be emailed out.
Results will be available to students from:
If your child is leaving KGV and will no longer have an email account in August, and they sat Food Tech or DT, then a family member can visit the KGV exams office to collect the AQA results.
Dear KGV Families,
As we cross into the final two weeks of the academic year, our senior school campus is buzzing with a very natural mix of fatigue and excitement. Our students have poured immense dedication into their academic endeavors over this long stretch, and while a sense of tiredness is entirely expected, it is beautifully balanced by a justifiable anticipation of the summer holidays ahead.
During this short but vital window, we are heavily emphasising the absolute importance of finishing strong. We are encouraging all of our senior students to uphold their characteristically high standards by remaining active participants in the classroom, staying deeply focused in lessons, and maintaining the healthy daily routines that anchor their holistic well-being.
Year 13: Crucial Post-Results Protocols
For our graduating Year 13s, the focus has officially shifted toward the upcoming milestone of IB Results Day. Please ensure your child looks out for a critical, highly detailed email from Mr. Wightman, our IB Coordinator, outlining all immediate post-results timelines and logistical steps.
To help you keep these essential dates on your radar, here is a quick summary of the milestones ahead:
6th July (8:00 PM HK Time): IB Results will go live on the IB Candidate Website (candidates.ibo.org) using your child’s personal code and PIN.
7th–9th July: The Exams Office and members of the Higher Education (HE) Team will be physically on campus to provide direct, face-to-face support.
10th July: KGV final transcripts and IB results statements will be uploaded directly to students’ Unifrog lockers. After this date, support transitions to email via careers.office@kgv.edu.hk
15th July: This is the absolute final deadline to submit formal requests for re-marks or re-takes to Mr. Wightman to avoid standard fee increases.
Please note that official certificates will be ready for collection on campus in October, so graduating students must ensure they have configured an active email forwarding service from their KGV accounts.
Wishing you all a great weekend.
